I don't think Disney is more accident-prone, but rather the news is more aware in light of recent events. I've seen numerous accidents on property, and have even broken a couple of those stories on these boards, which have never been reported on the news. One time when I worked at the Sci-Fi at the Studios, I was leaving to go home and saw a Disney company Suburban make a left turn at the red light intersection of World and Buena Vista, hit a car driven by a couple of high-school teenagers making them spin in a full 360, and then flipped the Suburban onto its side. It was around midnight in the spring, so there was no traffic. Since I was the only person who witnessed it firsthand, I stayed to fill out a report. Turns out one of the kids' parents was a manager at the Studios and was very grateful I stayed to substantiate the report. Otherwise, with the company vehicle involved there was a good chance the kids would have been blamed for it. The man driving the Suburban was quickly and mysteriously driven off by Disney security before the police showed up. We were told he would be resting at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the police can find him there for questioning. It was bizarre!
Also, about a week after
this I saw a Disney bus on the side of World Drive right past the car care center by the Magic Kingdom completely burnt down to a skeleton. I figured it was newsworthy, but nothing was reported. I couldn't even get any details from my usual eyes and ears who work at Disney and know everything going on. No one else saw it, as if it never happened!
