Day 2-Mickey woke us up at 8am and we all got ready for my sister to pick us up to go to AK for the day. On the way to the car I realized we had forgotten to pack the plastic stroller rain cover. The sky looked clear and blue, and it is such a LONG walk back to our room, that we decided to go without it that day. BIG MISTAKE!
We arrived at AK while the awakening ceremony was going on, but we could only hear it because you need to be right up front in order to see anything. Once the ceremony starts there is no separate line for those with PS seatings so we had to wait in the long general line with everyone else. We had to book it to Dinoland, which was roped off. We supplied the CM with our name and were let for our 9:10am PS at Donalds.
We really enjoy this breakfast, the food and the chracters. I especially love the chocolate chip pancakes and breakfast pizza. They have a nice bagel/muffin/doonut area and boxes of cereals (we put a few in our backpack for future breakfasts!!) We had the same server as our Oct 2001 trip, Billy a real funny guy with great magic tricks.
When the meal ended we saw that it was POURING out and our stroller was soaked. Poor Declan, he had no stroller the rest of the day. That day it drizzled/showered all day long.
Oh well.
We stayed in Dinoland since it was pretty empty. Mike, Laura and girls did Primeval Whirl while Declan and I did Tricertops Spin and played carnival games. You only need 2 people to play ($2 each) and no one else was around so Declan and I played against each other and won 2 dinosaurs for him. We then did Dinosaur. Declan is 40 inches so he was tall enough to go on. I thought he would be scared to death but he LOVED it! He was a daredevil the whole trip...nothing scared him. We then saw Tarzan Rocks (Tarzan is hot!) By now we were all dying from the heat and humidity and were pretty wet (ponchose are useless) but we kept on going.
We did Bugs Life and then headed for the safari. We a had a great tour guide and saw the lioness perched ontop of the rocks. While on safari a herd of antelope were fighting and one ended up jumping and ramming right into the safari jeep in front of us. It seemed okay but we had to wait while our guide called in the incident. They were going to send doctors out to check them.
We then did the gorilla trek and stopped for some awesome fresh fruit. Declan enjoyed a banana and some strawberries while the rest of had pineapple. Then we were off the Kali Rapids. Everyone in the raft enjoyed Declan's reactions to the ride and his laughter when he and I were the only ones to get completly SOAKED!!! He didnt mind and in fact found it quite funny.
Since I was soaked we decided to head back to WL, first stopping to get a new light up pin for me and a safari hat for Declan. By the way-Declan was wearing a Kenya outfit my husband had bought our first child 10 years ago when he was in Africa while in Navy. Everyone at AK admired his outfit.
Back at WL the girls and I swimmed while Dad and Declan napped. Then we all got dressed in our thrird matching Disney store outfit and met my sister and some friends from Chicago at the bus stop for our 9:30pm Hoop Dee Doo. By now the rain had stopped and we walked around Ft. Wilderness until the show. The show was awesome as always!! There was no one in the upper levels so everyone on the floor got lots of attention from the show members. The food was terrific, love that bread and butter. They even brought Declan some mac and cheese. We ate and ate and ate. Mike and Laura had beer while I had sangeria. When we wanted a refill our waitress brought a pitcher of beer and a half of pitcher of sangeria with a straw in it for me!! My husband told the waitress he wanted to marry her. (She was about 65 and so sweet. We gave her an extra tip even though the tip was already included in the price.)
They recognized Kelly's birthday and also sang "These folks are from Illinois, you better watch out for that boy" (shining the spotlight on my husband)! He was so red!! My daughters loved the dopey blonde in the show and my sister and I thought the dark haired guy was pretty hot! Declan loved the end when you play the spoons on the washboard.
We all stumpled back to the bus (the waitress gave us to go cups filled with more beer and sangeria!!) We then passed out at the WL.
Tomorrow-sleeping in, pool time and E-night.
