Burbank restaurants

Other Day6ish question. Pre-DL arrival we will be in and around LA. We are planning a private two hour stars homes tour (Tour du Jour) on a Wednesday am. After that we are planning on lunching somewhere and then doing a Warner Brothers tour in the late pm. Any ideas on where to eat in Burbank (or Hollywood)? We've been to the Farmer's Market before and liked that.
I read a recent article that recommended Pie n Burger in Pasadena which I know my boys and hubby would love but I'm not sure we want to drive from Beverly Hills thru lunch hour traffic to Pasadena.
Any suggestions are welcome.
I'm considering Bob's Big Boy. Not sure what it's like though. Any good/bad experiences there?

Bob's Big Boy is good, it is the oldest surviving Bob's, who created the first double burger.

Also good in Burbank are Don Cuco for Mexican, Porto's for Cuban, Paty's Diner (an old fave of Walt Disney's), Mo's for burgers and Olive & Thyme.

DON CUCO'S! That brings back memories from when I lived in Studio City and we'd head over there for their massive margaritas.

Pinocchio's is a fabulous Italian deli - some of the best Italian food in SoCal.

If you want to go upscale and see a bit of Disney history, the Tam O'Shanter Inn is excellent, albeit pricey. Walt used to eat there.

You can eat at the WB cafeteria before the tour. I love Pie n Burger, you should add day 7 and go to Pasadena. Also, Tam O Shanter has a bar menu, it's pricey ($18 for a hand carved turkey sandwich, if I recall), but definitely cheaper than the restaurant, and cheaper than Lawry's, who owns it. There's a small Buffett with mustard, horseradish, cole slaw and potato salad that goes with the carving station. They switch over the menu to more bar snack type items at 4pm. They has a few (maybe 3 or 4) drawings on the wall that relate to Disney, but I'm not going to recommend anyone go all the way out there and pay $20-$40 to see them.

We went to the WB last summer & went to lunch at Big Boy which we didn't even know existed anymore but heard on here about it... we had one near home when we were kids... anyhow all I have to say is they were the best burgers we have ever eaten!!!! Absolutely amazing... you can't miss it!!! & its not far from the WB either.

The WB commissary is REALLY good. My daughter's godmother works there and she's given us private tours and we've wound up eating there. Delicious and fresh food.

Cool thanks. Commissary just doesn't sound that appealing (lol) but I will take your recommendation. Sounds like it's good. I'll check and see if they have a menu online.

I know Commissary makes it sound like bad army food or a college dorm, but if you are there during the week the Commissary is where the Warner Bros executives dine and where the talent dines when they are onsite filming.

I think you can only use the Commissary if you are on the deluxe super duper tour, but if you get the chance to eat there, it is top notch.

I think you can only use the Commissary if you are on the deluxe super duper tour, but if you get the chance to eat there, it is top notch.

To get to the commissary you have to take the deluxe tour, but there is also the cafe, which is also open to people who work on the lot. It's more like a cafeteria. Studio cafes usually have a sandwich station, a grilled, at least one hot meal of the day and a few standard options, a salad bar and sometimes a pizza station. I personally haven't been to the current one at WB, but you can try to find information via Google, it's called "Studio Plaza Cafe."
