Bunny & Mommy Goin' On Vacation, Sunshine & Ice Cream... NEW NEW 3-30-07

I'm glad you're back and you and Miss Bunny are feeling better. LOVED this installment! :rotfl2:

“Ask Crush if he has a shell-phone,” I suggest to Bunny, knowing her great love of silly jokes. “Get it? A shell-phone!”

EXCELLENT question! I may pretend to be a small child and ask Crush this myself!

Evidently, I was being a pushy stage mother. Feeling a little embarrassed, and sorry that my child terrorized an innocent toddler, I suggest we forget this frustrating scene and move along.

:lmao: Oh, my goodness, this made me laugh out loud! Isn't that always the way? Little Miss Chatty Cathy suddenly clams up when a prime opportunity comes along. I've done that stage mother thing myself.

“Bunny!” hisses Nana, “What do you think they’re going to cheer for you, because you get to go ahead of them in line?”

I assure you, they were not.:rolleyes1

They should have! Bunny is very clever to have a mom who knows about fast passes. ;)

Now, NMAmy, would you please take the stand, and state for the judge and all those witnesses here present that “patootie” is not a BAD word? In your own words, of course...Go ahead, I'll wait here. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:Here I am, reporting for duty! I cannot believe that child ratted you out for patootie! :lmao: Bunny, honey, patootie is NOT a bad word.

You made me think of a time when dd was about 8. We'd just moved into a new place and when picking up a wet towel off the bathroom floor, I came up too quickly and just about knocked myself unconscious on the towel rack. :scared1: I saw stars, fell to the floor, and apparently let rip some new vocabulary words for dd to overhear. :rotfl: Now, understand, I'm the kind of person whose strongest language includes the words Jeepers or Jiminy Christmas. DD came running into the bathroom and said, "Mommy? Are you okay? You just said a word I've never heard before!" :lmao: I still don't know what it was but I'm betting it was a bit more colorful than patootie!

Hilarious installment, bunnysmum! I think you're the best, too! :thumbsup2

I should know better than to come over to the Trip Report section. I know have 71 pages of a Word document to read.

Yea, another mom like me who has no clue what words are the bad ones:lmao: I am constatnly being reminded by my child or occassionally children that I work with that certain words I grew up with as common explanation of feelings are "bad". I know the biggies cause they were "bad" when I was a kid and resulted in consequences of used. If we are ever in WDW at the same time you will know me by my Bunny and yours saying in unison, "That's a bad word":dance3:

Yea, I'm all caught up. All I have to say is, "PATOTIE". :rotfl2:

Utah Mama: Thank you for being supportive about my "patootie" utterance. I LOVE the word "hissper". It's a keeper! Soarin' was probably Bunny's all-time favorite ride or second favorite. It ran neck and neck with Splash Mountain, which we also rode multiple times in succession!

Backstage Gal: Yep, Bunny's a trip, for sure. She's a sweetheart, too. Just tonight, she made me a dinner tray b/c she knows I've not been feeling well. I guess all that noisy coughing tipped her off! She served me a glass of watered down orange juice (I always water hers down a little) in a nice goblet, several washed strawberries with the leaves still on, a few leftover pineapple chunks from the fridge, and a folded paper towel all on a tv tray. Isn't that so sweet?!:cutie:

Kay: "Loose Cannon": I agree! It's so true that whenever anyone wants to talk to Bunny on the phone, she is waaaaayy to busy to be bothered, but meet up with her in person and she'll talk your ear off. "Sea you around"! Wish I'd thought of that one!:lmao:
I do think it's funny that "patootie" is her idea of a "bad word". I love it, actually. Once when she was about 4 yrs old, we were out at a shopping mall, and two young "ladies" were teasing/arguing with each other. One called the other a stupid witch (or something similar...I can't remember:rolleyes1 ...maybe it just rhymed with witch?). Bunny overheard, and stopped dead in her tracks. She looked at them, and in all pure innocence said to them very earnestly and imploringly, "Don't say stupid!" Had NO clue what the other word meant. Had never heard it before, I'm happy to say.:thumbsup2

SmallWorld71: If only...I agree! ;)

NMAmy: I knew I could count on you! Thank you for your expert testimony! And thanks for liking my goofy "shell-phone" comment. :thumbsup2 Oh, that whole Crush episode was just saaaad. :sad2: "Mommy, you just said a word I've never heard before"...too funny!!!:lmao: Thanks for reading so faithfully, NMAmy!

PaMom001
: Always happy to burden another reader with my trip report!:thumbsup2

TeddyToo: Oh yes! I am give ZERO slack on saying any offensive word around here! Bunny is our official LANGUAGE COP. Heaven forbid I should say "stupid". Oh my goodness! Oh, I hope we ARE in WDW at the same time someday! We could compare kidnotes! What fun that would be!

As for "Sea you around," that would probably go over Crush's head unless it was in print.

I hope you get another try with Crush. Maybe Bunny will come up with something funny and clever of her own. I do believe she is more than capable of that!

It's wonderful that Bunny still has that "childlike innocence." Sadly, it has become increasingly rare in our day and age.

Are you working on another episode? popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

Hey, I found you languishing on PAGE 3! :scared1: I hope you're not still sick. Just checking in on you, and hoping for another episode soon!

Goodness gracious - could you see me getting embarrassed from here?
I see cute kids like Bunny and I start thinking I want one, but then I hear stories like this and it makes me wonder if they're worth it. ;) Just kidding, your bunny is precious!
I'm going to eventually start taking random kids to WDW just to show them the place and have fun.

Whew! Thanks Kay and Celery for rescuing me from oblivion! Not sick anymore, thank heaven! Just entering a VERY busy time of year for me at work. I do have some time off coming up, though, so I plan to be busy writing during that week! :surfweb:

On a side note: my mom, who has been ill, just got a great report from her doctor, and I tried to plan a surprise quickie trip to WDW for just the two of us to celebrate, but couldn't find any available rooms on property. Maybe just as well, since I know it would be horribly crowded. Still, give me a reason to celebrate and a few days off, and my mind starts thinking Disney...:wizard:

I'm so glad to hear about your mother's positive report! Can't wait to read about more Bunny hijinx. :thumbsup2

Now that I’ve been vindicated for the infamous “Patootie Incident”, I suggest we move along to the rest of our Epcot adventure. Thank you to all my expert witnesses who testified on my behalf.:thumbsup2

After my unfounded accusation by Bunny at Soarin’, we managed to enjoy the ride again, despite my outburst of foul language.

By the time we finished our Soarin’ adventure, it was nearly time for our ADR at the Garden Grill for lunch. We were quickly seated on the inner tier, which still afforded us a reasonably good view of the Land beyond.

Many readers are familiar with the Garden Grill, which is a rotating restaurant, which provides changing views of The Land attraction. But for those less seasoned Dis-ers and family members that I have coerced into reading my trip report, you will note that the Garden Grill does not spin so quickly as to mess with one’s equilibrium. You can safely dine there without “revisiting” your meal, if you know what I mean.

The movement is so very slow and subtle that it is barely noticeable, but rather entertaining when one looks up after a prolonged period of either chowing down or conversing with one’s dining companions and realizes that the scenery has changed.

Equally entertaining, and considerably more dizzying are the antics of Mickey (dressed appropriately in farmer attire), Chip & Dale, and Pluto. To Bunny’s great delight, these friends practically dined with us, they were spent so much time at our table! Mickey even sat down with us at one point, and “told” us (via pantomime and writing) that we could get a variety of ensembles in which to dress our Pal Mickey at the “Build a Bear” store. Wonder if Mickey gets a kick-back on those outfits?

We had great fun with Chip and Dale, complimenting them on the delicious garden vegetables that accompanied our meal, and watching as each tried to take all the credit for the gardening and cooking.

The food itself was quite good, served on a platter for all at the table to share. All being Nana and me. Bunny actually got her own servings of kids’ fare: chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese and such. We encouraged her to sample from the main platter as well, and she happily did.

The adult’s platter included a flank steak with mushroom sauce, catfish, and turkey. Sides included stuffing, cranberry relish, and biscuits. It was all quite good, but we especially enjoyed the catfish. Dessert was a sampler that included brownies, lemon bar, and cheesecake bits, also good, if not outstanding.

We had an interesting “conversation” with Mickey, who told us his age (52), and his favorite ride at Epcot (Mission Space), though Mickey cautioned Bunny that it was probably too intense for younger guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Mickey, who was very generous with his time.

When I had phoned about six months ago for our ADR’s, the CM asked me if we were celebrating any special events during our stay, and I mentioned that we would be celebrating Bunny’s birthday a few days early while we were there. They must have noted this on our reservation, because to our surprise, Chip and Dale appeared with a full-sized birthday cake at the end of our meal! And to sweeten the deal, a birthday card signed by the whole gang.

After Bunny’s cake appeared, they also brought out the dessert that was included with her meal: a cupcake with frosting and sprinkles to decorate herself. A big hit! :cheer2:

The most fun part though, was when Chip and Dale snuck up, and dipped their paws into the frosting and then wiped it on Bunny’s nose. Then they ran off and laughed behind their paws about it, pointing appreciatively at their handiwork. Bunny loved it!

They boxed up the rest of the cake for us to take back to our room, since that’s where we were headed, although being on the dining plan, I can’t imagine when we thought we’d be hungry enough to actually sample any more of it. It was a surprisingly tasty birthday cake, especially considering it was free!

After finishing lunch and securing all the necessary “odergraphs”, we headed out of Epcot toward the buses to go back to our room for an afternoon rest. We planned to dine in the World Showcase later that night, and to watch Illuminations after, which would make it a late night by Bunny’s internal clock, especially, so the afternoon break was a must.

On our way to the buses, we ran across another Photo Pass photographer, and stopped to have him take a few pictures of us. I guess Bunny was a little hyped up from the sugar or something. She could NOT listen to the instructions from the photographer about how to pose, and she could barely keep from running off from us.

Finally, when we finished getting the pictures taken, we reached down to retrieve our bags. Bunny was attempting a masterful escape, while I did my best to corral her. You see, I have neglected to mention until now, that Bunny had developed a very annoying habit of insisting that she knew which way to go to reach any location, anywhere, in any park.

“It’s THIS way, come on!!” she’d shout with authority.

Stopping dead in my tracks, I’d look at her incredulously, “And just HOW do you know that?” I’d ask.

“I just KNOW!!!” she’d reply, tugging on my hand and yanking my arm out of joint at the elbow.

“Oh, hold on, hold on,” I tried to reason with her. (My first mistake.) “Have YOU even looked at a map of Epcot?” I challenged her.

“NO!”

“Did YOU spend countless hours obsessing over the plan for today, planning every detail?”

“NO!!”

“Do you have any idea where we even want to go next?”

“NO!!” (She is clearly quite annoyed with me at this point.)

In desperation, I ask, “Then how could you possibly know which way to go??!”

She looks at me with a heart-warming mixture of annoyance and pity.

“I just KNOW!!!” she repeats.

(Why do I even bother to try to reason with five-year old logic?)

Somehow, in all the fancy footwork that ensued, Bunny planted her little pink and white sneaker squarely in the middle of that delicious birthday cake, which we were forced to dump unceremoniously in the nearest trash can on the way back to the room.

Clearly, it is nap time. And very well-earned indeed by all members of our party that afternoon.

Coming up next: Moroccan spaghetti, bellydancing, and Berber Passion. (Are you intrigued yet?)

I am very intrigued! I'm also sorry about the cake! And I like exclamation points apparently!

I also deal with people who don't know which way is which in the parks - but mine are 57 (sister) and 16 (daughter). They always head the wrong way!

Wow! That sounds like a great dining experience. I can't believe how much character interaction you guys had. Its no wonder Bunny was hyped up with all the attention! Too bad she put her foot in the cake. And I love 5 year old logic! Although I will be the first to admit that when your on the receiving end it can be exasperating at times. But hey when its someone else, its great!

I just started reading and am on page 2, and wanted to tell you how much I'm enjoying it. I especially loved Bunnys report. How sweet. She is adorable. Can't wait to read more, but can't stay up any longer. Thanks.

Some people talk about wearing a perma-grin while on rides at Disney. I wear a perma-grin while reading your reports. :) This was so cute! The photo of Bunny, not looking at the camera, with frosting smeared on her nose, made me laugh out loud. I love Chip and Dale. I have always thought they were among the funniest and most lovable characters.

Your description of the food is much more favorable than I have heard elsewhere. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's too bad the cake became a casualty of child-logic but you enjoyed it at the moment and it was a very nice surprise to have received a whole cake.

I'm glad you're back to writing. I hope to read more soon. :woohoo:

Don't you just love how Mickey can communicate? I try to explain it to people, about how mickey said this and then Mickey said that and they just look at me.
Do you think we hear him say what we want to?
I don't. I think he talks very well.
He told me he saw me dressed as Minnie at MNSSHP last year. And I believe him!

Bunny's logic is every 5,6, and 7 year olds.

To bad about the cake. Just think of the calories she saved you. See she knows what she is doing.

Saw Bunny's picture on Kay's report. She is so cute, her expressions are priceless.

Can't wait to here more....
