I'm hosting Bunko at my house Monday evening - it's a dice game, 12 ladies play - and hang out!

I am planning to get a club sandwich platter from our local Kroger... have some brushetta dip/pita chips, cream cheese/marshmallow dip and fruit, and alouette and crackers. To drink I'm having Crystal Light, Tea and water.

I need some help - I'm considering another side, maybe a salad or soup, and a dessert. I'm looking for low maintenance/prep time - as it's a casual meal.

Ideas?

Thanks!

What about potato or macaroni salad from local deli as well. Soup can be a hassle for a hanging out night.

Dessert - cookies, coffee cake, angel food cake or pound cake with fresh or frozen berries. Pastries from the bakery or BJ's/Sams Club are usually good.

It sounds like a nice spread. :)

I made some chocolate covered pretzels today. How about something like that? It didn't take long at all. I just melted some chocolate chips, dipped the pretzels in the chocolate and laid them on wax paper. Put them in the fridge to harden. They are sooo good! Makes me want to go get some right now!

I second the potato salad or macaroni salad.

You've got a nice meal planned!!!

I was in a Bunco group of 12 for several years. We did not do "dinners" though. Whoever was hosting just served a lot of appetizer type things, & a dessert or two....along with alcoholic beverages - hey, it was mom's night out & some of the ladies needed it!! :)

One thing that was easy for me to always serve was Taquitos. They come frozen, & I'd just pop them in the oven, heat, & serve.

Oh, yeah - I forgot about making a pasta/potato salad type side.... hmmm, that may be a possibility! Like those chocolate covered pretzels, too!

I was at Sam's on Thursday - none of the desserts appealed to me...

dd- my house is one of about 2 or 3 "dry houses" in our group.

Thank You all!

I belong to 3 groups, and it's mostly appy's and desserts, and sometimes sandwiches, stuffed breads, or wraps. I've seriously never heard of a non-alcoholic bunco - I have my beer group, my pinot/cabaret group, and vodka group. We don't do prizes, just cash.

We do bunko..tomorrow night is our Belly Dancer bunko (EEK!!!). Typically whatever the theme is..(yes we dress to the theme)...that is the cuisine that gets served.

One was a Salsa Night and the hosting ladies of Puerto Rican Heritage made some fantastic pork, plantains and a fantastic rice dish.

For Mardi Gras--it was Mardi Gras style food...(dessert was a King cake shipped from NOLA)

For Barbie Night--well we didn't eat Barbie food--but it was a yummy greek pasta dish made with Orzo. (dessert was simple cookies)

When I hosted I just did Dessert fondue. This year I am hosting the Christmas bunko and NEED ideas.

In January--one of the ladies is hosting Superbowl Bunko and February is our baby shower bunko--two of us in the group are pregnant and we are due within one week of each other.

We do cash--and since they've been doing the dress up theme--they do a small door prize for who is voted for the best in theme. Since we have grown to 16 ladies....we do a hostess envelope to help the hostess offset hosting costs.

We serve Alcohol--but I am curious about some fantastic mocktail recipes since I can't drink. :(

i'm so glad you asked this. i have dec. in our group. just feel like i need to do something a little different since it is christmas.
how about deviled eggs as a side? one of our favorites was the bbq from sams club, the host also got potato salad and cole slaw from there.
you can buy a whole choc-pecan pie from cracker barrel for 7.99.

We do cash payouts, with some $ going towards a perfect attendance prize in December. We also pay out more $ in December - which will be a fun party. We're thinking about doing a backwards party in December - with husbands playing... did a pajama party once - it was fun!

My sister is part of a group near her home - they all bring appetizers, instead of the hostess making everything. I would prefer to make one meal a year.
