Bummed about MNSSHP

We ran into a scheduling conflict our last trip too. I wanted to end the trip at MK - see the light parade and go on one last ride kind of thing.... but there was a Grad Night our last night there so MK closed early. I ended up calling it a day a little early and we scheduled a fun meal and then a night at the pool. We saw some of the fireworks from Illuminations (we were staying at BC) and then off to bed. It turned out to be a nice night, just not what I had originally planned.

We have only ever gone at "part" times of the year. When we go in early Dec, we buy tickets for MVMCP one of the nights they have it. It's a really nice event and if they didn't have it, the MK park would still close early anyway that time of year. In fact, the nights they don't have the party the MK closes early..maybe 6PM..so you couldn't do much anyway. :confused3

The other parks have nothing to do with the MK parties and close at their normal times for that time of year. Also, you have to consider that both Epcot and MGM may have evening extra magic hours and stay open much later than normal during your trip. You can check the park hours, including EMH on this website as well as Disney's.

We are going in October this year and have already bought Halloween party tickets for one of the nights during our trip. Have you considered buying the tickets for 1 night? Maybe your last night? We did the Christmas party on the last night of our trip December and it was a wonderful way to end the vacation. :)

Add me to the list of the [seemingly millions!] of people who will be there the first week of October! :rotfl:

However, we are arriving on 9/30 and wont be going to a park til 10/1. Our plans are as follows:

10/1: MK. Rest (back to hotel, swim, and nap). Dinner at Chef Mickey's then to Epcot for the evening.

10/2: MGM. Rest. Maybe DTD? Or just relax at the hotel pool!

10/3: AK. Rest. MK, dinner at Tony's and Spectro!

10/4: MK. Rest. Epcot

10/5: MNSSHP party!

So, if you're willing to do ONE MNSSHP... all you'd have to do is pick a different park for 9/30 and you could still see plenty of MK! These are "best days", too. Well, one day MK is a "yellow".... I can see how it's tough to imagine not having an MK day to start off your trip... but I like the idea of Illuminations!!! And if you go to the MNSSHP on the 5th you can end with a bang!!!

Hope you guys have a GREAT time! I'll have my limegreenmickeyears on our stroller! :cool1:

Well, I'm bummed about MVMCP. We are going at Thanksgiving. We've done this many times before. MVMCP usually doesn't start until the next week after Thanksgiving. So does school, so we head home on Sat after TG.

This year they are starting MVMCP in mid-Nov. I get excited that we can go to the party this year. Except there are no parties for Thanksgiving week. Bummer.

I agree with SmileMom. We have done this also for MVMCP and plan on doing this for the new Pirate and Princess party in Jan. The day of the party we spend time at the pool, DTD or otherwise just relax that day. Then we make dining rez for the MK as early as we can and that way we are in the park early and done with dinner before the party starts. In Jan. we have rez for 6pm, so we will probably arrive about 545pm. Pirate Party doesn't start til 7:30p. We get the whole evening and night in the park and instead of burning a day of our pass, we only used the addmission ticket to the party. So we have 5 visits to the parks and only using a 4 day hopper pass.

We are going October 13-20. I really would like to go to MNSSHP but as a family we have decided not to. Not sure my DS8 & DD5 know what they are giving up, but our budget doesn't allow for an additional fee. We have decided to arrive a day early, so my kids will enjoy another day at WDW instead of the MNSSHP. :yay:

Our last night will have to be spent at Epcot, because, yes MNSSHP is on three nights during our vacation. We will just make the best of it. I don't think it will be an issue to my kids. I'm the one that is sad! :guilty:

Yes, I am less than thrilled when I find that the first two nights of our trip (last trip as well) coincides with the Night of Joy at MK, and our favorite park will close early. I have no interest in attending the NOJ, so I would not be saddened if it was discontinued. On the other hand, we really enjoy MNSSHP. I was excited to find that there would be a party held on 9/15, during our trip, and quickly purchased tickets. The way I look at it (and this is only my view and how it works in my family), we usually spend about 80. on each character meal, so for a bit more, we can do MNSSHP (of course, we also keep the character meals, so no budgeting there!). If there were three NOJ parties scheduled during my stay, I would be as put off as you.
Hope you have an awesome trip, regardless! :wizard:

We're going on the 15th too! Our first time! I was so happy that we could include this in our trip.

Regarding NOJ-we were there 2 years ago just after Hurricanes Charley and Frances (and just before Ivan) and sales of NOJ tickets were less than expected. Resort guests were offered the opportunity to buy tickets for, I think, about $13-14. We jumped at the chance. We had a great time. We completely ignored all the NOJ entertainment and just rode the rides and visited with the characters. There was NO line in Toontown-we had as long as we wanted with the Princesses, etc. Some of the areas were crowded (around the entertainment) but since we had no interest in watching, it was like we had the park almost to ourselves. The second best event we did was MVMCP in 2003-we were there early Dec. (2-10) and the night we went the park was definitely NOT crowded. I'm assuming it was because it was early in the season and we are hoping for the same experience at MNSSHP on the 15th! :goodvibes See you there!

Sorry, I'm on the flip side..........I just can't feel sorry for you. YOU HAVE FREE DINING! Can't you see your glass as half full? I'll trade you MNSSHP tickets for free dining!! ;) I'll be arriving after the free dining offer and I too am majorly bummed about not qualifying for that. FREE DINING PEOPLE.............FREEEEEE!
