Some background:

I pick my DD, who is in first grade, up from school each day. I walk to the school with my other kids. Last week, I saw and heard an older boy complain that his bike had a flat tire. He then started venting, saying the flat was caused by another bike next to his. I do not think that was the case. But, he kept going on and on about it. He was cursing and saying he was going to "get" the kid who parked next to his bike. I watched until the cursing boy went on his way home. He did not comfront the person who had parked next to his bike.
Fast forward to today. I went to pick up DD from school. We left and were walking to the side walk. My 2 yo stopped and started playing with something on the grass. I waited for him and encouraged him to get moving. Well, cursing boy comes out riding his bike and deliberatly ran over my 2 yo and told him that he should not be there and that he "hated little brats!!" Well, my mom instincts came on strong!! I told him that he was in the wrong and I could see his name on his backpack and wondered if I should follow him home and tell his parents what he had said. He did not say a word to me, but took the first turn he could and waited until I was long gone to go "home."

Was I in the wrong to say what I did? Should I say anything to the school or am I over-reacting??

Thanks!!

I would mention it to the school. Did it happen on school grounds?

Heck no, your son is 2, I would be talking to the school and having them talk to his parents!

Thanks, I will let the teacher "on duty" know that this student may need some extra monitoring while on school grounds at dismissal time!!

I've done the "Hey, you should keep and eye on so-and-so because of this" and the teachers are very helpful. They take bullying very seriously. You should definitely tell someone.

No, you didn't overreact. Your son could have been seriously hurt. I would definitely inform the school of what happened. Good luck.

I agree, you should definatly inform the school.

You were so right to do what you did. I hope the teachers do take notice.

Makes you wonder though....what kind of treatment does this kid get at home? Not as an excuse but trying very hard these days to understand other people's behavior as there are a couple people at work who need a good knock upside the head :)
