Hi Shannon! Joining in! I noticed you had a link to your own PTR when you posted on mine. I didn't want to miss out on the fun you're going to have planning your trip!

I have that song stuck in my head now too! :lmao: Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

Woo hoo, I finally made the first page of something!:woohoo:

Can't wait to hear all about your plans!!!!:goodvibes

Of course, joining me on this trip is my husband, Shane. He's an electrical designer (which, I think, is sort of like an electrical engineer, but without the degree. I'm not exactly sure what my husband does at work all day).

My DH is an electrical engineer and I have no idea what he does at work either. :thumbsup2 He tells me and it's so above my comprehension that after 13 years of him working at the same place, I still have a very basic understanding of what he does.

Hi Shannon! Thanks for the heads up on the new PTR and :woohoo: on getting to plan another trip and it being just the two of you! Looking forward to hearing more about your plans :goodvibes

Yay, you're going in October! :woohoo:

I've stayed at POR and I loved it! Are you considering one of the Royal Rooms? You should! The food court is really good, and it's like, right down the street from Epcot, which, if you love Epcot like me, is awesome! And the boat ride to DTD is really nice, it's nice not to have to deal with driving over there, just hop on the boat! :cool1: I think you will love it!

Until the park hours are released for October, there isn't too much I can plan. We're only getting 2 day park tickets, so I'll need to see the hours/EMH to determine which park we visit on which day (and of course that will also determine where we eat).

My first instinct was to spend one day at Epcot, and the other at MK. But now I'm not so sure!

Epcot is a definite… we've been to WDW twice during F&W but have never sampled any of the vendors!:sad2: This will be remedied on our anniversary trip.

I would like to go to MK to see what has been completed in the Fantasyland expansion. But then I thought if Shane and I are planning to take our DDs next year, maybe the two of us should hold off going to MK… this way, we'll all get to experience the new Fantasyland attractions together.

Which leaves us going to either DHS or AK for our 2nd park day. I'm leaning towards DHS. I do like AK… but of the 4 parks, I think I'd rank AK the lowest. (Shane doesn't really have any opinion on this... he's fine with going to either park.)

My pros for going to DHS:

  • TSM, ToT, and RnR
  • Starring Rolls cupcakes!

And my cons for DHS:

  • Other than TSM, ToT, and RnR, there really aren't many other attractions that are "must do these!" I'm not saying I don't like the other attractions, but those are my Top 3.
  • I'm not a fan of Fantasmic!, so that's not something that will entice me to choose DHS
  • Where to have dinner… we've been to 50sPTC and Sci-Fi before. And while both were good, I'm thinking we should choose more "adult" places to eat at and not sure where in DHS to go for dinner. Perhaps Mama Melrose's?

Now, regarding AK… I love EE, KS, and FotLK. But that's about it. Again, there are other attractions that I like, but not necessarily "must do" (and there is one attraction that is a "definitely must NOT do"... Flights of Wonder. Birds freak me out.) Also, as with DHS, I'm not sure where in AK would be the best place to have dinner. We've been to Y&Y before and liked it, so there's that.

So my question for you, dear readers, is this: If you had to choose between DHS and AK, which would you pick, and why?

Saw your post on Alicia's PTR, and came over to hear about your fun.

We've stayed at POR several times, and I think you will enjoy it. It's very pretty and romantic! In fact, my DH and I stayed there a few years ago when we went for a little anniversary weekend (minus the kids---which I may say is great!)

I tell my husband all the time that I don't know what he does and work, and it doesn't matter , as long as his check goes in direct deposit every two weeks! ;)

:welcome:, Michelle! Thanks for joining!

Glad to hear you've enjoyed POR. I'm thinking about Shane and I taking a carriage ride around the resort one of the evenings we're there. That should be romantic, huh?

And you're exactly right... I don't understand what he does for a living, just bring home that paycheck!

Joining in! I saw that you had started your PTR over on Jen's and hopped on over. :goodvibes SAHM from Tennessee unite!!! Planning our first trip with the little one right now, but I hope to plan a trip for DH and I, "just the two of us" in a couple years before DD gets too big to get too mad at us for leaving her behind! :rotfl2:

Can't wait to see your plans!

Looks like we have east and west Tennessee represented in this thread! Are you around Memphis?

Yup! We're about 30-40 minutes outside of Memphis, in the county just north of Memphis. Originally from Nashville(and that's where the parents are), and my brother/SIL are just outside of Knoxville, so we're all over the state all the time. Good ol' I-40.... Ugh.

Here's my two cents:

My favorite ride is ToT. I could ride it over, and over, an over again. I could never go to WDW and not ride ToT. So DHS is a must do, for me. So if I had to choose between DHS and AK, AK would lose.

We had the same dilemma when we were planning our anniversary trip. Only so many days and too many parks to choose from. Park hopping really helped us with that. We spent a lot of time in Epcot (sampling the food and drink venders) and then one evening we went to MK for MNSSHP. And another day we went to DHS in the morning and then Epcot at night. So that way we got to go to the three parks we wanted. It was one of the hardest trips we've planned because there were things we would have liked to do but we just didn't have the time. Oh what a problem to have! :thumbsup2

I voted for DHS! While there are some things I like at AK (EE, FOTLK, Nemo show)- It is actually my least favorite park.

On the other hand-at DHS--ToT, RnRC, Beauty and the Beast, Fantasmic!, TSM---Starring Rolls (which you mentioned!;) )---I'd have to choose DHS over AK any day!

Ok, sing it with me: "It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all..."
