I've been to DL so many times but have never stayed at the HOJO. Very excited and thrilled to get the et rate for my entire 7 days in December:) We are going to be top floor building 3. They won't tell me the room number, but how is building 3?

I'm okay with a double room, the queens were all sold out and I don't need to spend any money for a disney view as we're going to be there all the time. We stayed at the DLH and PPH last year and got lots of disney view and now are looking for a great deal.

Would love a little review:)

Also, what types of breakfast foods do they sell at HOJO and any idea of what the price is? example cereal, milk, bread, peanut butter, muffins.

That's my favorite room!! I love the upstairs double/double. The beds seem like queen beds to me--they are extra large doubles so only a few inches shy of a queen. The upstairs rooms have large skylights and high, curved ceilings. I personally prefer it over the other room types (except the kids' suite, which I've never had but would love to try sometime). I've not stayed in building 3 but I'm sure it's nice. Here's a map of the property: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/assets/pdf/propertymap.pdf Building 5 is closest to the freeway and I'd avoid that one if possible.

One thing I would request, especially if you have a family with you, is not to get one of the corner rooms. They are smaller due to the stairs and they do not have the extra sink outside the bathroom. It's a little thing, but something to note. I've had those rooms and they were fine for me when it was just 2 of us, but with my whole family I want the extra sink!

I'm not sure about food offerings. I saw things like fruit, individual cereal boxes, stuff like that. The prices seemed high to me & I think you could do better. We just brought our own in a box/ice chest. We also went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast and used the free breakfast coupon you get when you sign up for their e-club membership (free). Just make sure not to sign up until you are within 2 weeks of your trip or your coupons will expire.

Thanks for the little review. I feel very excited today. I've been pretty stressed out about the trip due to the swine flu, but dh, ds8, and I had our shots today and my other two boys already had the swine flu, so I feel so much better:)

Since we are in Canada, I can't get a free breakfast from Mimi's. Bummer. We probably won't go there for breakfast because I don't want to waste any time in the morning, but I'll check it out for dinner.

I stayed in building 4 last month and it was great. No elevator but not too many stairs. Not sure if the beds were the new upgraded but they were plenty comfy and everything else was just great.

The breakfast items are a bit expensive, but priced for convenience. Better to have a grocery delivery, but cheaper than eating out, unless you can get someone to split the deluxe breakfast at McDonalds which is plenty for two:)

I love Mimi's and my son keeps asking me to take him back there, but it is a bit far from Mukilteo, ya know.

Hope you have a great trip.

Is there any other place down the street where I can pick up a few items? Two years ago we stayed at the Ramada, but brekky was included and when we stayed at the Fairfield in 2004 we brought some instant oatmeal from home. This time I don't want to pack much as we are trying to avoid taking any checked baggage.

Hi slg! :D

You can order from Vons and have groceries delivered to you here at the hotel, as long as you have a US Billing/Mailing address! Lots of our guests do that! :goodvibes

Hope this helps!

Bldg 3 is one of the Pavilion bldgs, we love the Pavilion bldgs. They are our faves when staying at the HoJo. I do find Bldgs 3 & 5 to be a little more noisy then 2 & 4 and we definitely prefer upstairs to down but we love those Pavilion rooms. When we stay there we take our own breakfast stuff, we usually stop at Costco before we leave so we have foods/snacks (which reminds I need to do that next weekend for our Tgiving trip) so I really don't know where you could go for that stuff. Sorry. I do know the little shop at the HoJo has cereal and milk but I can't remember the details of what exactly they have......

We're Canadians so unfortunately we don't have a US address. What items are there at the HOJO market? Is there a loaf of bread? Peanut butter? Bagels? Muffins? Are there just tiny cereal boxes or are there large boxes? Sorry for all the questions but just trying to plan.

There's a little write-up of the gift shop at http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=647 There are supposedly pictures as well but I keep getting a message that I have to sign in to Yahoo (and I don't want to :) ). The last post has a video with 3 shots of mini cereal boxes (at least one with cereal cups too), LOL, so if there ARE any big boxes, they are well hidden!

I agree that it is pricey (I got a small single-serving bottle of milk for approximately the same price as at Disneyland!). But it is convenient. If you know you want a lot of food, then ordering groceries and having them delivered to HoJo is smart (or even taking a taxi to the grocery store might be better).

I know there is at least one non-hotel convenience store within walking distance of DISNEYLAND but I don't know how that is in relation to HoJo (and the prices aren't great at convenience stores either :) ).

It might be worth your time to catch a cab to the Target a couple miles South on Harbor. They would have most everything you need and decent prices, too.

There are mini marts all down Harbor, but for the best prices you'll want to hit the Target the DM just mentioned. :)

We are Canadian and got free breakfast coupon. All they needed was an email and maybe a zip code....this was last month.
and mimi's is yummy!

Which zip code did you use? I tried my postal code and it didn't work! I'd love to get a free brekky!

Yeah...we are Canadian too & used the hotel's zipcode for the Mimi's coupons 2 years in a row now. Our last trip was this past September. :thumbsup2

How long are the coupons good for? Can I ask for them now? We are there Dec. 15-22.

When I signed up for Mimi's, I just e-mailed them and they gave me their zip code to use.

The Target on Harbour and Chapman is not a super Target but has a nice variety of foods. We always pick up bagels, cream cheese, milk, ice cream, soda, water, bagged donuts, Muffins , and various snacks. They carry small things like soup, mac and cheese , lunch meats and some frozen foods...Its easier than going to the Vons and the prices are great too.
