Can anyone out there give me information about Ryland Homes or D.R. Horton Builders. I am interested in honest experiences both great or not so great. Thank you for any help you can give.

We have Horton here in Louisiana and after seeing some of their new constructions (before anyone ever moved in) i would NOT recommend them. Some of the things I saw were WAY crooked outlets, ceilings where the sheetrock was sagging, UNLEVEL ceilings (How do you even accomplish that?!? ) and dangling light fixtures. That's just what I COULD see. It made me wonder about the things I couldn't see....like the electrical, plumbing, foundation, insulation, etc....
ETA: you should be able to go into a new subdivision that they are building in and look at those homes that are being built. You could arrange with a realtor to be shown some also.
Have a lawyer do or read any contract you enter into. Someone I know in Ocala was baned fron comming on his site. He owned the land and hired the builder. The work was so bad he was there every day until as the contract stated the builder told all the subs to leave if the owner showed up. This was only the half of the bad quality of workmanship. In Florida they can put a lean on for short money with no reason and thay do.
I lived in a new development in Orlando and a lot of the homes were Ryland. We had our own community message boards and I know a lot of people had terrible problems with their houses flooding from just a little bit of rain and Ryland did nothing to help fix the issue. I know there were other problems as well that they would always complain about.
