Bugs...does Disney fog or spray?

I'm not sure exactly where to post this, but I am wondering if mosquitoes are a big issue. The heat and humidity paired with the fresh water lakes that cover the property would make for fabulous breeding grounds for them. Does anyone know if they treat the water, spray, or fog to prevent them? Will I need cases of bug spray or is it not an issue? Thanks!!

I am pretty sure that WDW sprays for bugs. They don't seem to be too much of a problem.

I am a mosquito magnet, but I have never gotten a mosquito bite in WDW.

They must do something because I am a mosquito magnet as well and I have never gotten one bite while I am there. I always bring bug spray out of habit but we never use it.

I am a mosquito magnet as well, and I always bring bug spray with me. I don't find them to be a big problem during the day, but in the evenings, especially after a rain shower, it can get buggy. On last summer's trip my legs got eaten up at Epcot on the one day I forgot to bring my spray.

They spray strategically in certain areas. They use traps that attract misquitos with carbon dioxide to track population and location to determine where to spray.

I haven't seen a whole lot in the way of bugs / mosquitoes in Disney World.

This past April was the first trip I can remember where I was bitten by a mosquito, got bit a few times at MK and CSR. Past trips were typically Jan/Feb or Sep, never even saw a mosquito on those trips.

We just went in April - seemed to be wasps around more than i have ever seen - maybe because of all the rain Florida had before and during our stay? My sister actually was stung in MK and we had to go to the first aid center. Also I got bit up during lunch at Rose and Crown by some pest/looked like mosquito bites (sat outside). With that be said we did read a display at the Garden Festival center that explained how Disney does control the insect population - so they are on top of it as much as they can be.

I have never been bitten IN the parks. However, this past April I was bitten more than once by biting flies at the pool at Boardwalk. It only happened near dusk (prime feeding time for bugs).

I'm sure that they must to some degree. I know that they used to talk about how the introduced as many manageable bug predators to the property that they could. Sort of a natural pest control system. How much of that is true now is anybody's guess. I don't ever recall anytime when it was a problem for me. It's only fair to state that I have never been in the summer. All other months, no problem.

No, but they have an agreement with the millions of mosquitoes that live in the hundreds of acres of swampland in and around WDW that they can't bite park guests.

I am also a mosquito magnet, and I was shocked I didn't get any bites at disney.

Actually there is a job position open now on their website for pest control so apparently they have in house pest control.

I have been going to WDW for 20 years and I have never seen or been bitten by a mosquito, so they must spray, but I have seen bees.

Disney also "employs" a lot of natural controls over mosquitoes. We've visited over 60 times and after the first twenty of so times, we just left bug spray at home.

However, if you've never been to Disney World or just a few times and the spray will ease your mind, take it.

Never brought it. And I too am a magnet and have never gotten bit. I was stung on the nose at flower and garden a few years ago but what I assume was a sweat bee, though. The keys to the kingdom tour talks about some of the things they do to keep bugs at bay.

Everyplace south of the Mason/Dixon Line has bug issues. Mostly termites. Mosquitoes are universal.

There definitely are mosquitos at Walt Disney World. They aren't bad in the parks unless you set near water around dusk. You are more likely to get bitten at the resorts. I have been bitten several times at the parks in my 11 years living here. But, the odds are with you for a quick trip.

I haven't had any issues with mosquitoes but I got bit by a bug at POR last year that caused an allergic reaction. I've lived in the south all of my life and cannot tell you what that bug was. I certainly don't blame Disney. It is Florida after all. In fact, I think it's commendable that mosquitoes are not more of an issue.
