Can you request a to go box at the buffets to take the food remaining on your plate?

thanks

It's called a ziploc bag. I know that's the source of a lot of debate, but if I already have something on my plate and I can't finish it, I'm going to take it with me. Otherwise, it will get thrown away. I'm not going to purposely go and get extra food to take, but if I get too full, I'll wrap it up and take it.

I wouldn't put a whole meal in there, but if I had a roll or a breakfast pastry or something, yes. I am going to take it with me. I don't want to throw out perfectly good food because it's wasteful, and because I have paid for it. But that's just me.

No. And to the poster who didn't want to be wasteful so she takes along baggies, my mom calls that your eyes being bigger than your stomach. So maybe try and take less food next time. I can't imagine hauling a pastry around in a baggie.

I cannot imagine the need to carry around leftover food in a Ziploc bag while on vacation. I guess it's just me.
I watched a family at the table next to us do this at TH on our last trip. Except they were filling 2 BACKPACKS with anything they could get there hands on. Worst part is the kids were no more than 8-10 years old and they were being told to go get more food to load into the bags.

I really wasn't trying to start an argument here. I was only trying to help. Again, I didn't say I'm filling my bag up with food. I don't even do it every time. But yes...I've done it before with a single item.

LOL that's hilarious.

Can't believe people actually do that.

Uh oh, then I've been a bad, bad girl. When we have taken our little guys to a character breakfast we always bring a ziplock bag. Especially when toddlers, they were always too excited by the characters to actually eat much breakfast. We would pack up the muffins, fruit and sometimes even a piece of bacon or two from their plates for them to eat later. Cause sure as the sun rises in the east, 20 minutes after leaving a character meal they are going to be hungry again.

Agree with above posters, there are no to-go boxes.

I think it's tacky to bring any kind of container to a buffet and take food with you. I think most adults have a reasonable idea of what they can eat. If you are unsure, don't take the item from the buffet. If you find you have room, go back and get it. That way you aren't being wasteful. If you're actually eating an item (cookie, piece of fruit, ice cream cone, etc.) while walking out, I think that's OK.

Yeah, that is technically not allowed. Buffets are all you care to eat at that time, not 20 minutes later.

I have never even thought bring a bag to take food.

I will say that at our trip to Biergarten this month, our waiter asked if we wanted to go back up to the buffet to take anything to go? Or drinks? We didn't want to carry food around Epcot anyway, but thought that was a strange question, and not one I had ever encountered at WDW before.

If it's a breakfast buffet I don't see the harm in taking A PIECE OF FRUIT (SINGULAR) to eat later.

But yeah you can't take home an entire plate of food from a buffet.

An Apple, orange, or banana wouldn't really need a to go box though. If you can toss it in your bag as is then I agree one thing isn't the end of the world. Once you need to wrap it up or put it in a ziplock it changes.
