We have to drive to BUF (from Peterborough ON) tomorrow and satay at a stopover hotel. There is a terrible snowstorm right now that is supposed to not let up until sometime this weekend.
My ?: I have a 7:20 SWA BUF-MCO flight Sat Dec 17.

Does anyone have any info. on BUF possibly cancelling flights on Sat.?? And if so, what happens if your flight is cancelled.

Thank you
Suzy

I would take the 800 number for the airline with you and keep calling. If your flight is cancelled they will try to get you on a flight when they resume flying.

Thanks for the advice. I called the 1-800 # and they do seem to have some info.

I have posted on a separate thread that I am looking for the SWA # at BUF. It woudl be great to be able to talk to someone there and get some local info. about the airport.

The airport phone number is probably going to be very busy if there are weather issues.

Also keep an eye on the TV for any delays due to weather. You may have to go to the airport for the most up to date information or call the 800 number for Southwest.

The snow should, should i say, be headed to the southtowns by early tomorrow. I would say there is a good chance for a delay of your flight, but they should be able to fly tomorrow.

I have always had better luck in person than on the phone when it comes to airline delays, etc.

I just got off the phone with my SIL who lives about 4-5 miles from the Buffalo airport, she said it is not snowing where she is (slightly north and west of the airport) and that the sun was shining.

I know the southtowns are supposed to be getting more, so I think you'll be ok, just give yourself a little extra travel time to the hotel. Obviously check with the airlines and airport frequently but they were not closed or delayed, other airports may be delayed though. Here's the official FAA site on the Buffalo airport:

Hope you have a great trip!

We got down here fine today. I am at the Comfort Suites by the airport right now.
BUT it has started snowing HARD again and BUF is supposed to get up to 10 inches overnight.
I will call the airline later and see what they say. There is already a TON of snow down here, I can't imagine 10 more inches overnight.

I sure hope we will be able to get our 7:20 am flight out tomorrow?

Any thoughts from anyone who might have any idea as to how this weather could affect flights tomorrow early am??

Thank you
Suzy

If any airport is prepared for big snows it should be Buffalo. Good Luck!

I just checked southwest.com, her flight was on time! She should be at MCO right now!

Good to hear that. The weather right now is rainy and dark. Not a great welcome to FL.
