Buena Vista Suites questions

Several of my family members are considering staying at Buena Vista Suites and I just had a few questions for all of you.

How is their shuttle service to the parks? Do they drop off people who are going to MGM and then those who need to go to Animal Kingdom, or do they have seperate shuttles for each park?

Where do they normally do pick-ups at the park?

Is the breakfast a nice one?

Do you know of any restuarants that are close by?

Sorry for all the questions. We normally stay on-property, but we're going with my sister and her family and there are 5 of them, so this hotel helps with the 5th person.

Usually each park has a separate bus, although sometimes the MGM and epcot buses combine. It is not usually a problem in terms of crowding and they put on extra buses at closing tiime.

Typically the pick up is in the coach car park. Forgive me if i'm wrong but i think it was usually space 25 or 26. The only one not immediately accessible is MK where it's parked at the coach park at the ticket and transportation centre. I think only resort buses pick up from the MK park.

Sorry didn't have the breakfast!

Well you've got DTD a stone's throw away, so all the restaurants there incl Rainforest, Planet hollywood, Wolfgang puck, Earl of Sandwich etc. Also an Outback in the hotel, Benihana's in Hilton across the road and just outside the disney gates there are loads of chain restaurants around lake buena vista eg olive garden and golden correl

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

The breakfast is good and there is a huge variety. We ate our fill. :thumbsup2
The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean.
Not too many restaurants close by, but if you head towards DTD there are plently of restaurants to chose from.

I think you are confusing the Buena Vista Suites with the Buena Vista Palace.

Buena Vista Suites is a Good Neighbor hotel but they are located at the intersection of SR535 and SR536 so they aren't quite as convenient as the Buena Vista Palace which is located on Hotel Plaza Boulevard.

The biggest concern I would have is the frequency of transfers if they offer them. Typically, resorts in that area make about 3 trips to the parks in the morning and 3 trips back at night. You really end up at their mercy in terms of schedules. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend a rental vehicle if you choose to stay at that resort.

You're absolutely right, I might be. I've heard the ex wyndham being called this also as it has a wing of suites. Sorry for the mis-info!

I'm also interested in any other responses, as we are booked there for this coming fall. We needed 4 rooms and the free breakfast was the clincher for my Dbro. We'll have cars so that's not a big deal. More concerned with cleanliness questions ... Dbro's wife is awfully picky. Anyone else have a particular comment?

I believe Mary from www.mousesavers.com did a review of this hotel last year sometime. Don't know if it's still on her website or not, but, I recall she had good things to say about it.

Thanks everyone for your comments and reviews of this hotel. I, also, just saw another person who posted some comments on her visit to Buena Vista Suites just recently. The breakfast is a great seller for us too.

We stayed there last Dec. The rooms are clean, no mold in the bathroom or anything like that.
They could have vacuumed a bit better, but it was pretty clean.

The carpet was a little frayed near the wall...don't know how picky she is, but I did not care. We were hardly in the room.
I would not recomend doing any laundry there. Find a laundromat if needed.
We ate breakfast every morning, caught the bus to the parks and had a great time.
BTW, I left my backpack on the bus one night, we called the front desk, they called the bus driver and on the last trip home (which was the next bus) they brought my backpack to us.
Nice people!

Lisa, why do you not recommend the laundry facilities on-site? What about the shuttle service, do they have a shuttle for each park or does everyone ride in the same shuttle and they have to go to all four parks? Thanks.

I haven't stayed at Buena Vista Suites, but I have heard good things about it and it is reasonably close to Disney property...should take you five minutes to be going under the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" sign once you have left the parking lot! (two stoplights away).

There is a Golden Corral or a Bonanza steak house right across the street from BVS...you must take a car, the "street" has 5 or 6 lanes. You won't need it for breakfast, but it might come in handy for an inexpensive dinner one night. There will probably be a "10% discount on total bill" coupon for it somewhere in your arrival literature I'm betting.

There is also a 7-11 for emergency beverage runs, also across the "street"...and did you know the Buena Vista Outlet mall is right there too? The entrance is less than a mile down the road on 535.

Well, we had trouble with the dryers. There are only 3 washers, I think.
So, we had to wait, and it did not do a good job. If it's just a quick wash, it would be okay, but I had a lot to wash.

The shuttle service for MK was straight to MK. When we went to AK I believe they stopped at MGM first. The buses were very nice. The bus drivers very informative, really nice place to stay!
The rooms were comfy and the staff great!
They always asked us how our day was, how were the parks, etc.

Ozymoe, Thanks for the information on the restaurants close by and the 7-11. It will be nice to have somewhere to go quickly for anything that we forgot. I did a seach on the walmart website and they show one of their superstores just a mile and a half away.

With all of your comments I feel very comfortable with our decision. Thanks!

I am so looking forward to my trip! I think this hotel will work for our family. My DMom likes to do some laundry, but none of the rest of us usually do. I like the Wal-Mart nearby ... I'll have to look that up too and put it in my vacation book. How do you say ... research and prepare?!?

Sidenote:

The 7-11 and resturants are on the other side of the 8 line highway. A bit of trouble to get there from the hotel during rush hour. Very few cross walks, if any (i don't remember seeing any) in the vacinity. The only family resturant along the strip from the hotel wasn't very clean.

They have a drug store there also, but again you have to cross the 8 lane highway to get there.

There are some decent family establishments for eating about a mile or so away on the way back from seaworld/discovery cove (outback steakhouse to name one). I highly recommend going to those.

I can't say much for the hotel, had a real bad time (booked our honeymoon there) staying there for a week. Will not go back.

Hopefully they got better.

PM me for the details.
