budgeting

I tried using Mint, but it did not work for me. I found it to be not particularly intuitive and a little buggy. Since it's free, there's really no risk in giving it a shot. I much prefer YNAB. You can try a 7-day trial with YNAB and then's it's $59.99 for a license. There is also a companion iPhone app that is great for the doing the electronic form of the envelope system.

Is YNAB worth it? I went to the website and it's $60, I'm ok with that as long as it's really worth it. I heard that people had some issues using the program with Windows 7 too, anyone have any info on that?

I definitely think so! I have been trying to get on and stay on a budget for over a year, but I feel like I never have the time to keep a program updated (I personally don't like auto downloading transactions because I want to put in bills and checks before they actually hit the bank). Once I tried using YNAB, I actually kept it updated daily and stayed within my budget! It's very easy to use, so updating it took 5 minutes a day.

I use it on my desktop which runs Windows 7 and have not had any issues.

I posted the question on a different thread earlier today asking about any coupon codes for YNAB. I had downloaded the free trial and liked it. I ended up finding an old email from them that discounted the program to a price I was more comfortable paying. Hang on if you can and maybe they will send an email with savings.

Bumping:) Wanted to see what others say about mint.com. Is it safe and user friendly. Do you use YNAB?

Thanks:goodvibes

We use YNAB on Windows 7 (no issues at all). We have been using it for 2 years. It is be far the best budget software I have found. Well worth the price. They also have a forum that you can ask any questions on and you will have an answer within minutes from either end users or even the person and staff the created the software.

As far as mint, I looked at it and it was not what I needed. With YNAB, I can customize to however and whatever my needs might be! Like someone said above, use the 7 day trial period for YNAB and setup a qucik budget and work with it! WELL WORTH IT! :thumbsup2

You can download it at www.youneedabudget.com

Happy Budgeting!

I just downloaded the free trial of YNAB last night and input my stuff into it. So far I really like what I see, but I want to work with it some more before I decide if the 59.95 price tag is worth it. Do they ever offer discount codes for it?

One of the best things about YNAB is the free webinars they host explaining how to use the program and their philosophy, etc. Plus great helpful forums. It's really a nice group of people - both the developers and others, and the users on the forums.

We use mint.com, and have used it for almost a year (I'm pretty sure we signed up in February). It is totally safe and secure, and I love getting instant alerts through email and texting if we go over budget in any category.

Mint has helped us make a budget, track our spending, and set goals for future savings and paying off my student loans.

It also tracks your net worth over time, and compares your spending with others within the US.

I loooooooooooooooooooove it, and it's totally free!

We just started using it on the 1st, and we are liking it so far. Seems really easy to use.
