My next trip we are flying into MCO and driving to Vero Beach for 3 days and then returning to WDW for 11 more. I was hoping to rent a car for the entire time but so far I can't find one cheaper than $700 (including taxes and fees) and I was hoping for less. Sooo, I may only rent a car for the Vero portion of the trip and use Disney transportation for the rest of the time. It seems though that Budget doesn't return to the WDW Car Care Center? Where is the closest return site to the Boardwalk Villas so I don't have to go all the way back to the airport?

You can walk from there to DTD and catch the bus back to your resort.

Thanks Rpsemont!

Now, for an opinion. If you were staying at BWV and planning on doing a few rope drop mornings at MK would you rather have a car to get you there or rely on WDW transportation? I have always used the buses and boats and monorails, I have never done the car thing but my DH thinks it would be easier. What would you do? (It's about a $500 difference)

Drive to Magic Kingdom actually means drive to the parking lot, take a tram or walk to the Ticket & Transportation Center, monorail or ferry to the MK.

Compare that to getting on a bus and being dropped off closer to the front gate than even the absolute closest parking space.

We always rent a car because we like the convenience of it but never drive to MK. It's great to be able to get to morning ADRs without leaving an hour earlier. We also like having it for runs to the store when we need something.

For DHS and Epcot, you can walk - (or that's what we do - not sure of your ages ) For rope drop at AK, I would drive. I'd probably do the bus for MK.

That being said keep checking your rental car...

Lately I have found best prices about 3 weeks out. YOu could also keep the Budget one you have, and then maybe look into getting one from Dollar in Lake Buena Vista (location is Wyndham lake Buena Vista) More than once, we've gotten a great rate for pick up at LBV and drop at MCO. To pick up the car, we just take the bus to DTD. It's nice to have on the departing days so you can spend the MAXIMUM time before going to the airport.

More than once, I've had a hodge podge of different rental cars with a few days in the middle without a car, and then a few weeks before going, end up getting a great rate that voers the whole time.

All the major rental companies have drops either at WDW or in the Hotel Plaza Boulevard hotels. Check all of them, and try different drop dates.

I once had a car rental for 9 days that was $50 cheaper than anything I could get for 8 days.

Good luck!
