We just got back from a cruise in late August. I dropped my wife and daughter off at the port, unloaded the luggage, and drove back to Budget to drop off the car we rented a few days earlier in Orlando. Here's what you need to know: yes, it's easy to drop off at the port and probably a lot easier than lugging tons of luggage into the Budget minivan....Budget is just three or four minutes down the road from the Port...the Budget minivan shuttles (there were two that Saturday morning) go back and forth constantly so you don't have to wait long, although naturally they prefer to wait for a few passengers to get in before taking the drive. I got in and did have to wait awhile for the driver to come out (he was clearly waiting for a couple more to join me), but total wait time (though it seemed like an eternity 'cause I was eager to go) was probably 15 minutes before we took off...roughly speaking, let's say you drop your family off at the port at 10am and drive back to Budget, and you take care of the paperwork and you hop in the van and you wait a bit and then get driven back to the port, you're probably looking at being back at the port at 11am at the latest. Don't make the mistake we did: my wife and daugther were going to get on the ship, go to our room, etc. and I was going to join them later...but they couldn't get on because they had some of my paperwork and I had my passport and other paperwork...and bottom line is we should have put our thinking caps on and realized that I needed to have everything pertinent to me, and they needed everything pertinent to them so we could each check in individually...so they ended up having to wait for me to come back before they could get on the ship.
