I developed two plantar warts on my big toe back in September. At first it was just a raised bump and and kind of annoying. Then it got to the point that it hurt to wear flip flops ( I live in flip flops so this is a problem). It got worse and worse over the past few months and it hurt REALLY BAD to even touch it. I was about ready to make an appt. at the foot dr. when DH's grandma told me of a home remedy with vinegar. I took cotton balls and drenched them in vinegar, wrapped it around my toe, and covered with medical tape. I slept with it on my foot every night for 4 nights. It turned black and within a week it peeled off and you cannot tell was even there, nor does it hurt anymore. Just in time for FLIP FLOP SEASON!!!!:)

Just thought I would share in case anyone has them!!

Awesome...thanks for sharing. My DH has one on his toe and there's no way I'd get him to see the doctor. Hope this works!

did you do it only at night? what did you do during the day?

I've battled one FOREVER and even with the Dr freezing - it keeps coming back!

Thanks!

I wonder if it works on other types of warts, DH gets them occassionally on his hand.

:scared: i had one several years ago that was sooo stubborn.
firest i had it froze. but was told it can take up to 2-5 visit. i did the first visit, and then i lost my insurance. and couldnt get anymore.
so i resorted to a pair of tweezers. a razor. a safety pin and i dug it out.
took me 4 weeks or so. have to let it heal between digs ..
LOL wasnt the prettiest. but it worked.
funny thing is i had just about given up and was about to bite the bullet. and the paid stopped. that was over 10 years ago

My doctor told me the duct tape thing actually works!!! He said that you put a piece big enough to cover it over it (you could cover that with a bandaid if you wanted) and it will be an irritant to the wart. It does take time, but it is supposed to be effective.

2 of my kids had plantars warts. Those things are impossible to get rid of! We tried everything. My oldest had to go to the doctor for a few treatments to get them off. They spread so bad, they were all over her feet. It took well over a year to get rid of hers.

With my younger dd, we tried all of the home remedies. It took almost a year to get rid of them.

I heard about the duct tape method, too. It's supposed to seriously work. We heard about it too late, so we never tried it.

Does anyone want to trade Crocs with MY family!?!? :rotfl2:

I only did it at night. I would put it on there about 8pm and not take it off till around 7am. Just after the first night I could see it starting to turn black.

I had a couple and tried every home remedy known to man and they didn't do a thing. I had them frozen, that didn't touch them either. I finally went to a different Dr. She froze them and then added a touch of some sort of acid in the center. THAT did the trick! They are finally gone!

I'll try this tonight. Goodness knows, I've tried everything else, including surgery (so painful) and having it shot with a laser (OUCH!):sad2:

This worked for my DH when he had one, but I tried it for 3+ months and it never helped mine. It's worth a try, though.

We used duct tape on my five year old daughters wart and then when it was almost out we went to the pharmacy and bought this wart medicine and it took it out in less than a week!!!!!!! Go to the pharmacy and ask. It was wicked stinky meds. but it worked!!!!!!!!!!!

I put clear nail polish on my wart, and then wrapped it with duct tape. It worked like a charm and never came back. My cousin had a huge wart on his hand and tried many different things and many trips to the doctor but still wouldn't go away. He tried the nail polish and duct tape trick and it worked for him too and hasn't come back.

I dont mean to sound not so bright but DD has one, how do I know its really gone? I used a dr scholls pad on it for 2 weeks and then the skin spot fell off but I can still see the circle of the wart.

Will it just die off now or how do I know its gone? Do they turn black and then they are gone? I told her after this we will just try the duct tape (or now the vinegar?) Dh and I have never had them so we dont have a clue. Thanks!

Here's another one similar to the vinegar, but a little messier. A doctor recommended this....soak a very small cotton ball in Castor Oil and bandage (bandaid or medical tape) over night till the wart is gone. It works!!! Depends on the size of the wart as to how many nights you have to do this.
The Castor Oil, vinegar, and duct tape are painless....I'm into painless.::yes::

Duct tape worked for me! I have had a problem with warts forvever, and I was tired of going to the doctor about it. So I tried the duct tape, and it worked! :cool1:
