Budget or Avis at MCO?

I currently have 2 ressies that are within 50 cents of each other in price. One at Budget and one with Avis. I'm pretty sure neither company allows you to pick your car, but is there any advantage to using one over the other? Like skipping the counter and heading straight to the garage? Which one has nicer/newer cars? Is one better to deal with over all?

Thanks in advance for any info you can share!

These are essentially the same company (both owned by the same corporation) and will have similar vehicles at MCO. Both operate their own frequent renter program that allows you to skip the counter and go directly to your pre-assigned car. However, those programs usually require a stop at the counter on your first rental after joining so they can verify your credentials so if this is a one-time thing it probably won't be worth it.

Thanks for the info!

Anyone else care to chime in?

OKW was totally correct. They are the same company, share the same cars and are in the same area in the garages. The choice is yours. Both are very good agencies.

I have given Budget a try the past few trips and they are off my list. I have always gotten cars that are not clean, and with many many miles.

The biggest issue that I had with this was the inclusion of an EZ pass that I was not made aware of. It was hidden behind the rear-view mirror, and we just did NOT see it until it was too late, and then we were charged for the daily rate for this, even though we removed it immediately.

They hid it, did not tell me about it, and then charged us. I got no where with customer service. It was dirty dirty dirty. I don't care if they are the cheapest, they had terrible customer service, and I really think that they intentionally placed this device in a place that was not visible.

I have had excellent experiences with Alamo several times, as well as Hertz and Dollar.

After doing two one-way rentals with Avis this past 1.5 weeks but NOT at MCO I'd stay away from them for all it's worth. My first car was filthy, disgusting and nasty. It obviously hadn't been cleaned for many rentals. Issues with them pulling up a cancelled reservation too. On return the car was a newer on with 3000 miles BUT had significant bumper damage (I made sure they noted that). Upon returning issues with agent returning the car being rude and nasty.

Reading reviews online find this seems to be norm anymore with Avis...but now Budget is with them. We rented with Alamo last time at MCO. But like most things it is hit and miss ....for every bad review there are lots of good ones.

Budget has been with Avis for a few years, this is not new. Sorry you had a bad time with Avis. I have rented from them a few times and have had great cars and great service at MCO.
