Budget Goodie Bag Ideas - 6yr old DD BD Party

I did books for the favor at my daughters 5 year party last year. I felt like if I was going to spend the money on favors it might has well been for something of value. It must have been a hit because a Mom took that idea and did the same for her daughter's party!

I know you said that you didn't just want to do candy, but I do have a cute budget favor idea for you..... Last year, we did a "Pump It Up" party for my daughter. The party was sooooo expensive, and we let her invite a lot of kids so I really didn't want to spend a lot on favors. I bought big Hershey bars ($1/each from Walmart), wrapped them in construction paper and wrote "It was sweet of you to come to my party. Love, (child's name)" on each of them. Simple, and huge hit with both the kids and the parents (no junky gift bag stuff and I think most of the kids just ate the thing on the way home).

That's a great idea. Love it, thanks!

Last year, instead of gift bags, we went to Justice for Girls and used a 40% off coupon to buy an assorted variety of lil'Kinz Webkinz & each girl got to pick one. We made extra tags for them with my daughter's user name so they could link up as friends on-line. Even the ones who don't play Webkinz still loved the stuffed animal. I think they only ended up costing $6-7 each (less than our previous gift bags) & were a huge hit!

I've printed out free coloring pages related to the party theme before, and included small boxes of crayons.

And one year I made each guest stickers of his or her name - just printed them off the computer using address label paper.

I love the sticker idea - I'm not in the birthday party phase anymore - but I'll bear that in mind for my young nephew - I'm sure I'll be drafted into planning for his next party, as usual!

For my 3 yr old's party, I am doing knotted tutus. They are about $3 each and are simple to make. I'll put the CEC tokens in a plain bag then wrap the tutu around the top to girl it up.

For my daughter's gymnastic party I included gold medals. I know it's kinda junk but the kids loved them and they went with the theme. I also gavwe them some hair bands with ribbon hanging. I think I got those at the Dollar Tree, but they should be fairly easy to find or even make, that way you can have the colors you want.
Hey I'm liking that idea, the more I think about it- think I'll make some for DD's party in March.

My DD just had her 6th birthday party. We had kids there from age 4-11. I made home made play-dough and home made crayons. The crayons were star shaped (I used a Wilton silicone mold) Both went over big.

I usually do a better job at Michael's dollar section and the Target dollar section than the dollar stores. I included, a Lisa Frank bead set, stamp set with 3 stamps plus ink, chapstick, Tinkerbell paper pads, Tinkerbell pencils, candy necklaces for $60 for 17 girls in November. I got a coupon for 20% off my entire purchase at Michaels, so that helped immensley. It was one of the coupon books you got at the register with a purchase.

Gosh I didnt know Michaels had a $1 section I might have to go take a peak.... thanks...

I am LOVING the book idea! I am going to use it for ds's party in March. Now to find pirate books:confused3

Op.. as a mom I love getting books for the kids and they love them too:)

Yeah I really love that idea too... The party is on the 31st I dont know if I can chance ordering online now - I might have to wait until I can go shop in person... but I think the girls would really like that....

I run a small childrens party business (well am starting to run :) ) Any way have you thought of CDs? Have your daughter pick her favorites off CDs or MP3s you already have and burn them on to CDs for the girls then just print out your liner notes on some pretty paper and label the CD with a pretty colored sharpie. It is really pretty cheap for blank CDs and some jewel cases and every time I have done this they are HUGE hits. The little girls I nanny for also have several they have gotten from other parties and love listening to them (and the ones from their parties) over and over again. I love it because it is something that can be enjoyed for a long time.

Some other ideas might be
Ribbon Dancers, Wind really long strings of ribbon around a dowel (glue at top and bottom) Leave long long long tails. Very gymnasty and so much fun.
Buy bulk sweat wrist bands and bulk patches (Micheal's has them in tubs) and combine to make customized ones!
Water bottles, Fill with a few candies, stickers, and some of those drink mix tubes (Koolaide, crystal light etc...) Then Write the name of each girl in glittery paint or let them decorate with stickers.
Do little stationary sets, Print out themed paper at home, get a bulk pack of glitter pens or neat pencils to divide up and some stickers and colorful envelopes.
Print out coloring sheets and make your own books then pair with a box of crayons (or make crayon rolls) Kids love those coloring sheets and you can customize them to your theme.
Make a craft pack, Choose a simple craft and pack it up in a pretty bag for each girl to do at home. Something like pretty beads and string to make their own necklace and bracelet.
Or Have your daughter pick out some beads she likes and you can make bracelets and necklaces for all the girls, this could be very cheap and I bet they would Love them.

You could also make Hair bows or ponytail holders for the girls

We have one coming up in a week
we did :

juice box 2.00 for 8
fish crackers 5.99 for 9
raisins 2.49 for 14
themed fruit snacks 3 for 12
bouncy balls 2 for 8(since you have girls you could include sunglasses that come in the big party pack

I tied the very full bags with curly ribbon and we are getting a helium tank and making them balloon anchors so they get a balloon too!

Sounds nice but what about copyright laws? I know that laws governing copying and distributing music differ across the world. It would be illegal for me to do that here (Barbados) - too bad because that would be a pretty nice idea even for older children!

We just had DD 7's party last weekend at a gymnastics place. She picked cute tie dye/peace sign plates & napkins. We had a friend who is a great baker make the cake to match. She also made big sugar cookies that were frosted with tie dye frosting and a peace sign on top - I wish I had the pictures on here because they were SO cute! One giant cookie in a cellophane bag with a pretty ribbon would have been enough, but I went one step farther.

I went to the Creative Disigns forum here on the Dis. If you haven't been there GO NOW!! Seriously - they are amazing! I had Milliepie make me candy bar wrappers that were tie dye and they said, "Thanks for celebrating Katie's 7th Birthday with us" I think you can still see them if you go over there. If I figure out how to link it I will.

Anyway, each kid got a cookie & a Hershey bar custom wrapped. Did I mention the designers on that forum so it for FREE?! I told you they were awesome!! All you have to do is start a thread asking for help or pick a designer (it looks like Amy does non-Disney designs very quickly) and make your request right on their main thread. Just tell them your daughter's name, age & that you want a gymnastics theme candy bar wrapper and you'll be all set. They also do cute things like T0shirt transfers (then you'd have to buy the t-shirts for each kid, but they look SO cute!) and popcorn bag wrappers.

See if this works...

If not - go to the Creative Disigns board (way at the bottom of the forums) and look in the Millilepie thread - my candy wrapper is on page 129. You can also click on here Shared Files link in her signature and she has tons of other candy wrappers she's done. They were simple - print them out, cut them out and glue them right on the candy bar. No junk to throw away for the parents and the kids are happy.

We went to a party and they gave out an assortment of the movie theater candy... gummies, nerds, ect.... and each kid got to pick one out. So I that for my dd's party in October and it was a hit! amazing... so only a buck a kid. I did buy a few extra so the last person leaving still had something to choose from.

I am not really sure but we only use CD's or MP3s we have bought nothing that was stolen off the internet and we do not duplicate whole cds just a song or 2 from each. We also are giving them away and do not charge for them.

oh, you could do the peanut butter play-dough! don't ask me for the recipe, though... i'm sure you could find it somewhere... my mom used to make it when my sister was little... i don't think i ever made it for my own kids, and they're a little past that age now... but it's great cuz you can play with it AND eat it! :lmao: ;)

My daughter is a competitive gymnast, so we've been there, done that!

Hair scrunchies, sparkle/glitter hair spray, hair clips, . Seriously. Ever seen a gymnast's hair? The girls love it. Cheapo water bottles from wherever. Wal Mart has gold medals on a ribbon string, pack of .... some... for cheap.

ten-0 is a great gymnastics accessories place. Shipping is pretty fast, and you might find something cool there.
