Budget drinks for kids...

We drink mostly water. I have brita pitcher that I try to keep full at all times. Milk is for breakfast. DS3 will also drink 100% juice (1 a day) or a sippy of milk 1 a day. DS1 has water or 50/50 juice water. And still nurses.

Wow that's a lot to drink! Have you had him checked for diabetes? I know excessive thirst is a symptom.

I have always been concerned with the amount he drinks. Because he shows a couple of signs of juvenile diabeties, he has been checked every six months for several years. When he goes to Children's Hospital for visits with his nutritionist twice a year, he has just about every blood and urine test known to man done. So far, his blood work comes back normal in every way.

why was he off formula at 6 months? that seems kinda early? and WOW I thought my kids drank alot... I was SOOOOO wrong between the 3 (and my brother) we go thru a little over a gallon a day... WOW WOW WOW... If I were you I'd have bought a cow a long time ago. ;)

For those that like the Bolthouse juices (which I do!) Costco has 3 flavors. I picked up my favorite, the blue goodness on Monday, it was $4.99 for a 2-pack of liter bottles. I priced it at the grocery store this morning, and it was $3.79 for 1 liter, or $2.89 for a 1/2 liter.

I like how they use fruit puree, so they are thicker and have a great fiber content. I don't feel so guilty indulging once in a while.

I would cut out the juice boxes. They are expensive. My boys seem to drink a lot of juice too but I only buy juicy juice and water it waaaay down. I usually put an ounce or 2 of juice and fill it the rest of the way up with water. That way it still gives it some flavor. This is the way they've had it since they were little so they are used to it. Even if I ever have some of their juice I even water it down because it is so strong.

Besides that we have milk for breakfast, water at supper and watered down juice the rest of the time. I also keep bottled water in the car in case we get thirsty. I drink 1 soda a day and my DH drinks 4-5 sodas (ouch on the budget on that one)

We drink milk with breakfast only, water the rest of the day. Kids take water bottles to school. I only buy juice for parties or trips. Same with soda- special occasions only. We all like water.
