I am redoing smaller aspects of our 8 yr old home. (Things I can do without bothering Dh.) I would like to get new cabinet hardware for the kitchen. Where did you find cool stuff that was reasonable? I need brass or brassish looking unless its easy to change hinges on the cabinets?

I need 32 handles and 16 drawer pulls so what are your ideas? Where do you shop?

Thanks!

Target has some really cute ones and the ones that come in multi packs are reasonable- I got some nice polished nickel ones for my bedroom dressers, they were around $10 or $12 for an 8 pack I think.

We got some really cool looking door pulls at Menards a couple of years ago. I think each door pull was like $4.50 and each drawer knob was $3.00. Lowes has some really nice special order hardware too, but a little higher in price.

Have fun refreshing your cabinets.

On those home shows on tv they always say that changing the pulls and handles is a quick inexpensive way to update your cabinets. It seemed pretty pricey to me when I had to do it. I found some nice stock ones at Lowes. The special order ones did get pricier. I paid I think $4.12 per pull. Doesn't seem like much until you start counting how many you need. Good Luck!

I have the exact same problem. I need 38 pulls and at $4 or so each, that really adds up!! I am looking and looking, but nothing yet.

Believe it or not, I found a great deal at Home Design Expo! I had looked EVERYONE - B&M stores, out of the way places, scoured the web so I had a good idea of prices. Think I was just lucky that their cheaper pulls were exactly what I had been looking for and spent ~ $3.50 each (but that was 2 years ago). Good luck - it's tough to find what you like. let alone for what you want to spend!

I just replaced all the door/drawer pulls in all my cabinets (kitchen and bath) using what Target sold. I was able to get polished nickel pulls, I think they were 8 to a pack at $10/pack. I had burnished(dark looking?) brass pulls with recessed hinges. I left my hinges alone and they look fine. Although it could be because they are recessed and very little is exposed.

I donated all my old pulls to the local Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. A little tax deduction to offset the cost can't hurt!

I bought fantastic bin pulls etc. on ebay for like $20 for the WHOLE kitchen and i have a lot of cabinets! That plus cleaning and I used some stuff called Renuzit from QVC that shined them right up. Look great IMHO.

We are buying our first home next week :yay:

There are several updates that need to be done, including the kitchen. Since we can't really afford the whole thing right now, I'm picking up deals when I see them.

I just purchased a pack of 10 button knobs in brushed nickel at COSTCO last Saturday for $17.99. We picked up a few packs, cause you know COSTCO, if you don't buy it when you see it....it wont be there when you go back!!!!

If you're interested, I'd head over there asap cause there were several people were picking up packs when we were there.

Good Luck! Hope this helps!!!

I am so excited!!!!!

I stumbled into our habitat for humanity store, I never get to that side of town and had never been in one. Its like Christmas!!!!!! :rotfl2:

They had donated all new drawer pulls and cabinet hardware for $1 each. It was all in the packages new. They had been $9.19 marked with a tag from the local hardware store in town. So I got my 32 cupboards and 16 drawer pulls. Then for good measure I picked up some lever handle door knobs for $8 new.

So if you have one near you, check them out!!!!!

The handles we picked out were over $4 each at Lowe's, and with our huge kitchen, it was going to be EXPENSIVE! The upshot was that they didn't even carry them in stock -- we were going to have to pay for them at Lowe's, then they'd be mailed to our house.

My smart husband found the same thing on a website called Knobby Needs, and he bought them for about 60% of the Lowe's price -- big savings!

We chose to stick with antique brass (just used a new shape) because that meant we didn't have to replace the hinges as well. That saved a good bit of money, AND we were a little afraid that they might not match up perfectly.

I guess I am the odd one here. When we re-did our kitchen and I saw how expensive it would be to replace all the knobs and drawer pulls, I balked.
I took the old handles off, removed the out-dated back plates and then spray painted all the handles with an antique silver finish and put them back on. Total new look! Matched our new appliances/floors color scheme and was only the cost of spray paint.

Another great website is myknobs.com
They have the same stuff as lowes and home depot at a fraction of the cost!:thumbsup2

Value Home Center has a half off sale cabinet hardware until Saturday. Get a raincheck if they have low supply.

Hardware Resources

or ask a local cabinet shop where they get theirs and if they would quote you a price. If they are honest they shouldbe able to get you a price much lower than Lowes or HD
