Budget buster or a deal?

I don't like sports. My DH loves just about every sport there is. He wants a Chicago Blackhawks / Patrick Kane official jersey for Christmas this year. It is $150 which, in my opinion, is outrageous! My FIL rattled on yesterday about how fast these will sell out near Christmas, they don't go on sale, can never use coupons for them, blah blah blah. He showed me a website that had one for $129 and said that was a great deal and I'd better buy it ASAP. I thought Dick's had a coupon I could use today, went to the store and there was a sign that said the ad was wrong and these were excluded from the sale.:headache: So, since I was exhausted and beaten down, I just paid full price for it. Grand total $16X.XX

Came home and it was just eating at me that I had paid that much money. So, I went to the Sports Authority website and they had them 30% off! Decided to check for an online promo code and found one for $20 off $100 purchase and surprisingly, it applied it. So, grand total was $91.98 with tax and shipping.

Is this a budget buster or a deal???!!:rotfl:

I think you got a deal. Authentic sports jerseys are expensive and since demand is so high there is rarely a sale on them.

We have a few jerseys for our favorite teams, but to keep the value high, I won't buy them for children that are still growing quickly and I try to buy jerseys either without players names on them or with players that I expect will be with the team for years to come--not that that can always be predicted. Fortunately, "vintage" jerseys of former players are becoming acceptable now. It used to be that once the player was traded, it was "tacky" to wear their jersey.

Though expensive, it's a deal. making a single purchase for something he REALLY wants is a deal than finding 3 or 4 'bargains' of something he is 'meh' about.....

This. Imagine how excited your DH will be when he sees this gift. Worth so much more than a couple of things he could maybe do without.

That's a deal! DH wants a new Bruins jersey but if I got that for him, he wouldn't get anything else...maybe he'll get one for his birthday.
