We need a dishwasher!! Please help me choose a quality one that won't break the bank! I am thinking I want a stainless inside and not plastic. But thats about all I know!

If you have a Sears in your area, you may want to check there for the last year display models. Last week we purchased a Bosch display, stainless front and interior for around $525, full price was over $1000.

I love the stainless inside. I just replaced mine a month ago with stainless and its so much better. It seems to be cleaner and stay cleaner....mine be in my head but whatever!

our dishwasher broke a few months ago-- and we decided not to replace....
for the first time in 23 years of marriage we are washing dishes by hand... and amazing both my husband and I agree... its easier for us not to have a dishwasher:scared1:.....dishes come out cleaner for us... and they always seem to get done.... ?????? Can't figure it out..... I think we both hated unloading the dishwasher......
Just thought I'd share..... but Good luck on your search for a new washer....

Go to Consumer Reports and check out their dishwasher listings. I looked at it before I got our new one (Bosch...LOVE it). They made the case that dishwasher technology has come so far that it is easy to get a quality model (although maybe not a quiet one) for as low as $300 or so. It is well worth the time to check them out first before going shopping.

See now I got a Bosch after hearing how great they were. Had it a month and it quit working took four months to decide the techs couldn't fix it and another month to get credit to buy another one. We ended up going with a Kennmore ...

My husband works at Whirlpool so I'm biased. The best piece of information I can give you is that appliances are designed to last 5-7 years. If anyone tells you differently, they are full of crap. So, whatever you buy you need to factor in that after about the 5 year mark you will probably start noticing a difference in its ability to clean and even have problems and may once again need to be purchasing a new one. If it lasts longer, hooray for you!!!

I would encourage you to purchase an American made product whenever possible. I would also remind you that Sears contracts with different appliance manufacturers to make their products and not all of them are made by Whirlpool now.

Consumer reports is always an excellent resource. BTW, I love my Whirlpool dishwasher (it's a plastic tub).

We had a (stainless) Kenmore that lasted 4.5 years, then tried a Whirlpool. The Whirlpool was a lemon, so we got store credit and put it towards a Bosch. The Bosch is 3 years old and it stopped working last week. I don't think there's a reliable brand left out there. Our dishwasher gets relatively light use too, as there are only two of us.
