Budget Books

What Budget books do you like (enough to purchase and use as references or when you have weak moments)? I have Dave Ramsey's books, I like him. I am not impressed with Suze O or The Rich Dad author. What about Gail Vaz-Oxlade? Any other good books to read or website to visit?

I'm with you about rich dad and suze-o, neither impressed me much. If your just starting out I'd recommend debt-proof living by Mary Hunt and I love all of David Bach's books. Of course Dave Ramsey is great also!

im young and single and lot of the advice out there just doesnt apply to me. i tried getting advice from a few books and the one i loved was "on my own two feet". i think anyone can learn from it, the advice is basic and straightforward, i even took notes out of it before i returned it to the library. here is a link to the website (i have it in my favorites for future reference).

i read a book at the same time, i think it was something like youre so money. it advocated budgeting by basically eating ramen noodles to buy $300 jeans if thats what you found to be a necessity. i then felt like i found out santa claus wasnt real when she disclosed the reason she had been able to buy her own apt. at such a young age was that her parents bought it and put the down payment on it, giving her an interest free loan on the down payment i believe. she also had no student loans, i was like who is she to give advice?

Sagginit, have you read Ramsey? Curious if you count him as not applying to you, beacause I always wish DH and I had both read him when w were in your shoes.
