Budget At The Port Was Fine

We just returned last night and we rented two one way rentals from budget for our Sept 20th Magic sailing. It was fine. We had a Ford Taurus from MCO to Port Canaveral for a two day rental, and a Chevy Impala for a 4 day rental post cruise. One bill was $67.13 total and the other was$159.99 total including all fees and taxes. The Impala only had 900 miles on it.
Service was good at McCoy, at Port Canaveral the shuttle driver had to wait for us, because there were only two counters open and both customers took a little long to check out. Van service was very good.
On the way back at the port there was no wait for a van, and we fit all suitcases in the van with no problem. I would recommend Budget again.
We did take our big suitcases to the ship Saturday AM before we took the car back. That worked well for us also.

Shoes99 -

Thanks for the information - car rental is the last thing I have to plan for our cruise- good to know there are options other than Hertz!

:boat:

We also used Budget and found them to be great! We rented one way from MCO and dropped off at Canaveral. No problems at all. DH dropped me and the luggage off, drove back to Budget to drop off the car, then took the shuttle back to the terminal. Very easy! In fact they upgraded us from a Hyndai sonata to a Chevy Imapala, YEA!!

For our return trip to MCO we rented from Avis and were not as happy with the service as we were with Budget. We will definetly rent with Budget both ways next year.

Did you pre-arrange with Budget to pick you up after your cruise?

You don't have to pre-arrange with Budget, just go to the white tent on the other side of the car parking lot, and Budget will pick you up there. There was no one in line, and we waited 5 minutes for the shuttle to come back. All the pick up slots are together under the tent. Avis had the biggest line, Radisson and Budget had no line on Saturday around 8:35AM.

Thanks for posting about how and where to get the shuttle to the Budget Office. I called them directly, but the person answering was only subbing for someone who was out and couldn't answer my questions.

We're planning on renting a 12 passenger van from Budget in January from the Port and I'd like anyone's opinions.

We are a party of 9: 5 adults and 4 children ages 7-14.

Which would you recommend?

All of us take the shuttle to the Budget Office
or
Just one or two of the adults to go and come back with the rental van to pick up the rest?

Thanks,

I'd definitely go with the latter option. No point in schlepping all that luggage twice. Plus, all the other Budget customers would appreciate the fact that they'd get there that much sooner.

I agree with Dave. Just remember to bring you KTTW so that you can get back in to pick up the rest of your party. The porters were very helpful. Ours asked us whether we had our own car, or were renting then directed us to the tent. He said that if I wanted to wait with our luggage I could as long and DH had his KTTW card to get back into the terminal drop off area to pick me up. It worked great!

"you KTTW..." should have been YOUR KTTW...

Yeesh, I hate when that "r" goes running off the board!:D

Similar to a Boston accent. I used to travel to Boston on business quite frequently. Some people find the Boston accent somewhat grating. I didn't mind it <b><i>except...</i></b>

at the end of the week when they'd call my flight to "<b><i>Atlan-TER</i></b>"!!!

(BTW, the correct pronunciation is "et-LANNA".)

Cool, I'm glad it worked out for you. We are renting from there as well (may I add, thanks mostly to Dave's DCL info).
Do you have to reserve the shuttle ahead of time, or just show up when you drop your car off?
Also - is it on a certain schedule? If we get to Budget by 11, will it get us to the ship on time?
Thanks.
