Do you have any recommendations for budget accommodations in Lumberton, NC, for one night on the way to and from (I guess that's actually two nights) WDW?

We'd be arriving late in the evening and departing at the crack of dawn, so all we need is clean and cheap; don't need breakfast or anything.

Thank you for your recommendations!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and it is the first Hampton Inn that I did NOT like. They put us on the outside so it was like a motel room instead of a hotel room. There was a nice Sheraton right behind it though.

Good luck!!!

Christine

Thanks for these suggestions - I'd prefer less noise - we will be tired - but not so tired that we wouldn't hear heavy traffic.

:sunny:

When we stay there, we ask for a room away from the highway, at the other end of the building.

They're always really nice about accommodating our requests.....

I wouldn't stay at that Motel 6 is you paid me!!!

I used to live in Lumberton (and go back to visit my mom & sis) every couple of months.

Places I would recommend (don't know the prices):
Fairfield Inn (next to the Cracker Barrel)
Quality Inn (next to the KMart) - my class reuinon was just there, so it can't be bad
Holiday Inn
Quality Suites
I think a Country Inn & Suites opened not too long ago (used to be something else, not brand new)
There's a hotel at exit 22 in front of the SuperWalMart that looks pretty OK. I think it's a Days Inn. It's fairly new. The address would be either Hwy 301 or Fayetteville Rd.

Check Roomsaver.com to see if they have any coupons for any of these hotels.

Hope you have a good trip and find a place! As you drive past Exit 17, wave to my mom at work! :)

EDIT: just remembered the Country Inn and Suites is at Exit 20 across I95 from the Quality Inn. It's where the old Dairy Queen was before it burned down. It's only been open maybe 2 years at the most??? However, avoid the motel across the street like the plague!!! It used to be a Scottish Inn; don't know what it is now. It is nototious for robberies. Shouldn't be a problem at the CI/S, since the rooms have interior corridors.

Hey... I am from a little town about 20 min from lumberton on the SC side..

There is a family inn in ROWLAND NC right on the nc/sc border that is decent. clean cheap and quiet.. NOT FANCY

I also know that there are several chain motels here in Dillon at exit 197 or so... you cant miss all the signs.

WHATEVER YOU DO. do not stop for a night at South of the Border. It looks flashy especially at night. But I used to work there and I promise. You will pay alot for cheap 1970s rooms and very overproced food and gas. either go on into lumberton or stop in dillon... nooooooooo dont do it ARRRRGH!
