Hope everyone has made it home safely (or will, if your vacation is still going on...)
Wasn't this a great cruise? I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did, if not more.
For those wondering, my dad wound up being hospitalized at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, but he wanted us to go anyway, and so we did. They sent him home midweek, and his assisted living facility helped get him home. Thanks to Verizon international roaming and cellular-at-sea service we were able to stay in touch, though I had more success calling from Cozumel and Grand Cayman than when we were at sea. (It's cheaper, too.)
But enough about that... early highlights for us included seeing our server from our first cruise, Daniel, on the first day aboard... he was our lifeboat drill leader! We also saw Ahlden, who our girls became good friends with last time as well. He is now running the crew store, so we only saw him a few times, but it sounds like this was a good move for him. It's nice to see that there people who enjoy the work (and they work hard!), are successful and stay with the ship. Says something for Disney as well.
The weather was awesome, as I'm sure you would all agree, so snorkeling at Grand Cayman and then (lightly) frying ourselves on Friday at
Castaway Cay were fantastic. (Really liked Pelican Plunge, as well as riding the bike path -- more trails in the future would be nice.)
My aunt had a great time as well -- she loved our servers Dario and Thomas so much that she was in tears when leaving the dining room on Friday night. Speaking of dining, our night at Palo was wonderful, and it was extra nice because our head server (Roberto) invited the girls to come to dinner anyway - he, Dario and Thomas made sure they had a nice time. (And I think it was quite a compliment that they were welcome to come without us.)
Along the way, we also met up with some friends from home who were vacationing in Mexico - they took the ferry to Cozumel, and we met up to spend the day with them. Sr. Frog's was... interesting... with kids.
Shows were as awesome as last time... we REALLY liked the Disney retrospective, "The Dream Goes On" -- that was special.
All in all, it was a great trip - and much needed. I'll try to post more later, but for now it's time to catch up with life and work. Sorry we didn't get to meet up with anyone from DIS (that I know of), but I did enjoy chatting with you all ahead of time.
