Hi there!

Strange question, but I was wondering if anyone knows if the sell bubble machines or bubble shooters in the parks. We are headed down to wdw in a week and I read that they are a great distraction for toddlers waiting in line but I can't find one anywhere up here in NJ. I think I remember them being in magic kingdom but I can't be positive.

Thanks so much!

I think they sell some kind of bubbles, don't remember if it was a shooter or not.

Just a word of caution, not everyone likes bubbles or being in line with a bubble-blower. The discussion can get pretty heated here.

I am almost positive they sell them in the Backlot area at DHS. My DD works there and talks about using a bubble blower gun type thing to interact with the guests.
So I am going to assume they are all over the place. I recall seeing them when we were there in Aug but not sure exactly where. lol My kids are way past that age. Ok well apparently not my DD. haha!

Yes, they are available in the parks. Last trip we purchased one at HS in animation courtyard.

You may want to purchase an extra bottle of bubble stuff at the same time. Once we got home we somehow ruined the one that came with it and regular bottles of bubbles did not fit. Got an extra one the next time we went and just keep refilling with regular bubbles that come in the large size container.

Yes they have them. At least they did last year. For the record I LOVE bubbles!!!!

People don't mind them in the parks, but they do hate to be trapped in line with bubbles when they can't move out of their way. People have posted that they ruin camera lens, can cause people to break out if it touches their skin and will make a mess in line if they spill. I have also read that people don't like them because kids will try to chase them while they are in line.

Not everyone loves bubbles. Seems pretty innocuous, but some people have allergies to soap. Some people don't love having the residue on their hair, face, glasses, clothing, cameras, and other electronics. It's a little difficult to avoid this when in the confines of attraction lines or any other place where large groups are crammed together. Just a little food for thought.

There have been a few 'bubble threads' in the past. They have gotten a little heated.

Nods

They also leave a sticky residue on skin and can stain clothing etc. there are many other ways to entertain a child in line. I would leave the bubbles in the stroller

How have I missed those threads?

And thanks to all of you who warned about people not liking bubbles. Not that I am thinking of buying the bubble guns, but it's better to be forewarned/safe than sorry.

I agree, not in line. Lines are cramped spaces where others are basically trapped and can't get out of the way of your bubbles. It's just not courteous to others in line around you. Back at the resort or in open areas away from others is fine. Maybe there should be bubble sections at the park like there are smoking sections? Kidding. Mostly.

Blowing bubbles in a queue is not appropriate, IMO. There are lots of appropriate ways to entertain a toddler in line. By using fastpass and getting to the parks early, you can avoid the ling lines anyways., especially in early September.

Wow I would have never thought about the allergies and other issues with bubbles!

We always are at the park for RD and have FP and FP+ this time so I don't anticipate having to wait in too many lines, but of course my 2 year old has started a very "strong willed" streak these past few weeks right before we leave. I'm afraid that even the short wait for a ride he isn't going to understand.

Any other suggestions on how to distract them? I've purchased special fruit snacks that he's never had before, but other than that I'm at a loss.

Food, food, and more food. That works for my kids. Keep their faces stuffed for the whole queue and they can handle it.

Pipe cleaners. They can be twisted into many different shapes.

We used to always include those in the kids backpacks when we flew. Kids love them!
And you can add me to the list of folks who would be very unhappy if someone was blowing bubbles in a line. I like my glasses clean, thank you very much.;)

Cast members stand around blowing bubbles all over the place at Walt Disney World. Here's one demonstrating the bubble guns for sale:

Plus, if I recall correctly, there are bubbles that float down from the ceiling in Mickey's Philharmagic in the Magic Kingdom, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid in Hollywood Studios, and possibly also the Muppet show. And there may be others.

Not allowing your children to blow them at people in line is polite. But I'd recommend anyone with severe soap allergies contact Disney before they travel, to find out which rides they might want to skip.

Bubble threads tend to take on a life of their own...here's one from last year...

OMG, that thread was hysterical. Thanks for sharing. Although I have never had bubbles in the park, (too lazy to carry any extra stuff and too amazed by everything around me to worry about needing things to occupy my kids), I never would have thought about allergies in those situations. I do have severe allergies to cats and slightly less to dogs, so I think I found the fact that people were horrified by the thought of a bubble touching their skin interesting in light of another thread I read about dogs and cats on planes. Basically people in that thread were saying that it is too stressful for dogs and cats to fly in cargo and that people with allergies should suck it up because pets are people too - or something like that. As rude as people find bubbles in the park is as rude as I find animals being anywhere near me. In other words, rude is in the eye of the beholder sometimes. Just my 3 cents (inflation and all that).
