Bubba Gump Shrimp

Summer. We looked at it last week and they have a ways to go on construction. Looks like they are making and outdoor deck.

The best thing about BGS besides the "bucket of boat trash" is the license plates that you can flip over to show the wait staff that you need service. Waiters that aren't even yours stop and ask what you need.

Citywalk gets Bubba Gump yet the 'Jenny' is moored in front of Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney. oh, the irony.

Remember the movie Forrest Gump? Forrest named his shrimping vessel "Jenny". Its located outside Planet Hollywood at DTD. Now Universal is opening a Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant.

Sylvester McBean, that was a good connection! :thumbsup2

I have been to the one in New Orleans and Montery and they were both excellent and a lot of fun!!

That license plate idea is FANTASTIC! :thumbsup2 I enjoy good service, but sometimes you are asked a little too often if you need anything...and sometimes, never at ALL! Hopefully the servers are really good about noticing it...I know I always thought an empty glass to be a good sign I need something, but many servers just don't notice until you tackle them!

So, my question is...what is a "bucket of boat trash" and why do I think I might not want to know!? :rolleyes1

I can't wait to check BGSC out tho...I have a feeling I'm going to like it there! I hope they don't have shrimp margaritas though!

It's a bucket of shrimp, bulldozer lobster tail pieces and fish chunks. I know I'm throwing a bucket of ice water on this hoo-rah, but I find BGSC to be a way-over priced tourist trap at Bayside in Miami. Sure, Margaritaville is somewhat so, but the prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. Not the case in my experience at BG.

Wow...that was a quick response!!! :teeth:

I know what you're saying about the tourist trap thing...I mean, most of these places fall into that category I guess...I find Margaritaville to be ok, but I tend to get the Cheeseburger in Paradise and have an AP for a discount...and I'm happy...but I wouldn't go to McDonalds and pay $9 for a cheeseburger! It's hard being local to justify eating in some of them, I guess...but sometimes ya gotta! :thumbsup2

I look forward to checking it out...but I only like shrimp certain ways so it probably won't be a place I'll frequent...for me, Margaritaville has it all...I guess it's just my "style"! :woohoo:

So...what is "bulldozer" lobster? I had to ask...

slipper lobster, florida spiney lobster. good, but not great. the same thing you can go dive for in the Keys and get your own dinner.

Ah, OK...well, I've never been one to dive for my food...and I prefer lobster from cold water! I have this champagne taste and beer budget thing going on...The florida spiney lobster sounds like the black sheep of the family...

no, it's good, but it's better harvested and grilled the same day. strap on a mask and go get some. if you're going to live in Florida, you need to do it. it's fun, just look out for the barracuda. :)

Everything at Bayside is over priced. At HRC we had a coke and a sundae for a meer $10. DS17 fell in love with a painted optical illusion of Christ on the cross at one of the little stands. I wouldn't let him buy it for $40 and the next weekend he went to Mexico with his mother and got the same thing for $4.
I really didn't feel the $ burn at BGS though. And when I asked the kids where they wanted to take mom for lunch on Mother's Day they chose BGS.

that's nothing, there's the blues bros live show at Universal, but the House of Blues with pics of Jake and Elwood is at downtown disney. Both The Bear in the Big Blue House and the cartoon Doug were part of Universal (or Nick) and Disney at one time

July, gang, it opens in July....

And the one at USJ rocks...
