BTMRR Closed beginning Jan 7 through Oct 30 2013 ~ F! closed Jan 7 through Feb 14

I'm a bit bummed about the BTMRR refurb. We are heading to DLR in June (first timers) and couldn't wait to see what the difference between DLR and WDW's BTMRR were (we can't wait to see the differences between a lot of the rides that WDW and DLR have). If anyone has ridden both, could you tell me if there were a huge difference between the two rides? We love BTMRR in WDW and will be heading back there in 2014 so it won't be a total bust, but curiosity is killing me :rotfl:.

Most would say they are quite different. In my opinion, the DLR version is faster and bumpier. The WDW is better for 40" tall 3 and 4 year olds than the DLR one is. Don't get me wrong, kids of all ages will enjoy both rides. You can watch them both on Youtube.

I've only ridden the WDW BTMRR twice, but each time (once in 1988 and once in 2010) it just didn't seem as good as the DL version. Kind of dull in comparison. I was never sure if the ride wasn't as good at WDW, or if maybe (since I had visited DL first) I just considered it incorrect because it wasn't the DL version.:confused3

I'm a bit disappointed that BTMRR is going to be closed for our first trip next August but as I'd already read the rumours on here it wasn't unexpected. I'd wondered how it'd compare to DLP's which is much better than WDW's.

Looking on the bright side - it gives me yet another reason to plan a return trip to DL. :goodvibes

If an attraction is scheduled to be out of service for renovation during the summer months I am just glad it is not an attraction only found at DL. We are planning our first & only trip to DL in July 2013. We won't be too disappointed because the same attraction is at WDW, which we are regular visitors.

I broke the news to my kids last night that it will be down during our trip (this will be a once in a life time trip for us too and we too are regulars of WDW) and my DD11 reminded me of this very thing. She said...."Mom, at least it isn't the Matterhorn or Californian Screamin that is down, we already know what the ride is all about...". :goodvibes

I would agree with this; the WDW version is in my opinion tamer and not as exciting. The extra scenes (saloon, etc.) don't really add anything for me, and the fact that you can see the Railroad kills the immersion.
