What type of hotel did you ask for on Priceline to get the Waldorf? Midtown East? 5 star? Do you happen to know the other hotels in the same category? Thanks!

I might be able to help. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com and scroll down to NYC. Click on NYC and the first posts at the top show the various zones. Each one will show hotels that have come up in particular zones and at what star quality. These are only ones reported to that website, there can be others, so don't use Priceline if you would be really disappointed if you didn't get a particular hotel. Then read through the NYC posts and you'll get a good idea of what bids hotels generally will accept.

Nicsmom, I always use www.biddingfortravel.com before I make my Priceline bids. It gives me a pretty good idea of what hotels are likely to show up, and what it will take to make a winning bid.

As the other poster said, there are NO guarantees with Priceline, other than geographic zone, and star rating. But I'm been using Priceline successfully now for about 4 years, and I've yet to have a bad experience.

As for the NYC trip, yes, I bid Midtown East, 5 star. I was not suprised that we got the Waldorf, at that price, based on the most recently posted winning bids.

Good luck to you!
