Hi everyone me again sorry :goodvibes

Did everyone who is having/had a brunch reception have a dj?

Were having our brunch reception at ariels for about 30 -35 ppl, 7 will be kids. Im a big dancer but i dont think many of our guests will want to dance that early in the morning,( especially as the only alcohol we will be serving is bucks fizz lol). I really want to have a 1st dance with my hubby but cant justify the cost if other ppl dont want to dance & there is certainly a lot of other items i could spend the $1300!! Now im worried if we dont have a dj how are we going to entertain ppl for 4hrs & who will announce us??? ooo the stress!!

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

First, where are you having your reception?

I would definately recommend having a DJ - especially if it is a custom wedding and your guest will be there for 4 hours. What time is your brunch starting? We are thinking of a 9 or 9:30 wedding in Italy in Epcot and our brunch reception starting at 10:30 or 11:00 in either Ariels or Atlantic Dance Hall. If the reception starts at 10:30 and goes 4 hours this means it will be going till 2:30. I am sure people will want to dance during that time. Also if you do not have a DJ will there be some other sort of music playing. It will be a very quiet wedding if there is no music. People like listening to music even if they are not dancing.

Were having our reception at Ariels at around 10am finishing at 2pm following our wedding in the Germany pavilion in Epcot.

Yes the musicians from our ceremony will play out there remaining hrs at our reception, but i feel this may be a bit boring as its not really the type of music everyone can dance to.

Thank you for ur advice linda its much appreciated. I feel ill have no choice to begrudgingly pay out for dj. Ill just have to make sure if anyone wants to talk to me they find me on the dance floor :rotfl:

I am having a brunch reception at Ariel's starting at 10 am, and we are planning on having a DJ. I was not sure at first (same thing, wondering if it was worth it, if everyone would dance) but then I decided to do it. My guests are coming from all over and I would feel awful if they got bored during my wedding. I do not see how we could possibly just eat for 3-4 hours, and I want a first dance w/ DF ;)

I am thinking about this same question. DH really doesn't want to dance and this is our ten year anniversary renewal. We are doing a custom as we eloped to Disney the first time and now want our family to come celebrate ten years of successful marriage :goodvibes I know someone else on here had a caricature artist; I wonder if that is still available?

The caricature artists are still available. We had those on our original proposal, but cut them out. I forget what the cost, but they are a bit pricey. Ill have to take a look to see if I can find the proposal. HTH

That would be wonderful as I would love to notate the cost in my planning :sunny: My family has no problem filling the hours with gab and we are planning a visit from a couple of famous characters too :thumbsup2

If u could plz post how much a caricature artist is id really appreciate it rustyflwer3 :)

Aw Lisa congrats on 10 yrs of marriage!! Id love to have a 10 yr renewal at disney, but then again i joke with Sean id want a renewal every yr at disney till there's no places left :rotfl:

We already have planned a balloon artist for the kids & if i can twist Sean's arm some very special mice!! (Not sure who would enjoy it more me or the kids). Im really torn because I love to dance!! Ive trained as a dancer since i was 4, & really wanted to do a traditional waltz to Once Upon A Dream, but i h8 the idea of wasting money!!

Does anyone know if u can hire a cd player?

Or does this sound too tacky to let the guests put on what music they want to listen too? But still im stuck on who would so the formal things like announcing us etc...

I was on the fence about the same thing. I had a 10 am prereception & a 11am reception till 3pm at Ariel's. The violinist played dring the prereception and I had DJ Steve Weinstein for the reception. We danced ALL DAY. My family is not dancers, my husband NOT A DANCER and he did the chicken dance! The whole group of 35 danced at one point. Our dj set the perfect tone for our reception. Since we had a small group of people we had our bridal party announced from their seats and we were introduced. He did the perfect mix of our songs & Disney Music. We had Mickey & Minnie and they danced with us. I highly recommend a DJ & I highly recommend DJ Steve.

We had a brunch reception and had Charles Miles! He was the BEST! I have pictures of my 87 year old grandmother dancing.....He was totally worth it. I can't wait to see Stan's video of it!

I just found the price for the caricature artists. When we got our proposal back in August 2005 they were priced at $455.00 each. I hope that helps!

Not a problem :) Ive seen some pictures of the caricature artists work, and it's pretty awesome! I am not sure how many caricature artists you would need, as they each can only do so many pictures. Back then when we had a guest list of around 60 (since then, it has more then doubled), on our proposal it was listed that we needed 6!! Im guessing you may need 2 or three! I hope it works out for you, that would be a great activity for your guests and it could also count as a favor :) :cool1:
