I noticed the shark in Finding Nemo is named "Bruce." While filming the original "Jaws" Steven Spielberg referred to the shark as Bruce which was also the name of his lawyer at the time.

Homage to Spielberg or not? What do you think?

It could be. What I found more fascinating is that the voice for Bruce is Barry Humphries, aka Dame Edna! :)

According to an intereview I read with several of the animators, it is. It's just one of many, many little jokes that pepper Pixar movies.

Also go back and watch the DVD of Monsters Inc. At the end of the movie when Boo makes it back to her room and excitidly shows Scully all of her toys you can see that one of them is a plush of a very familar clown fish.

Pixar is so cool their in-jokes are about the future.
