Jan. 3 MGM and AK
This morning was my sons turn to be woken up by Mickey. He also loved this, he yelled at us all to hurry up because Mickey said get up I will see you soon. The night before I phoned front desk to see how early EE was. The guy told me park opens at 8. Guess whay- we arrive ar 8 to find out that EE is actually 7:30. We get in line for RnR. My son is not tall enough so we do the kid swap thing. The wait was about 15 min., so I asked DH to run over to ToT and grab fastpasses. He is back in record time quite proud of himself. Then he checks out his times. He has 1 valid fastpass time and 2 not valid. Seems he put the same ticket in for all 3. Oh well we will just explain to the CM our screwup. Now if you read my other posts you know that my oldest DD did not go on space mountain. Her biggest fear is the dark part. So as we are in line for RnR she asks is it in the dark. I base my answer on what it looks like on the video. I was sure that the majority of the ride takes place outside so I tell her no, its not in the dark. Was I wrong. This ride was great, but both DD's were in the seat in front and with the music playing you cannot hear a thing. As soon as we did our first loop in the dark I was sure that she would be hysterical. Finally it stops and I jump out to see how she is. Both kids are beaming. Wow lets do that one again. So back on they both go with their father. Next ToT, and the nice CM lets us go on with our messed up tickets. Now this is DD#2 nightmare ride. So I stayed off with her. DH said that they have changed it slightly. They start you off with a little shake before they drop you. Next stop for us was GMR(on this one is was great just getting out of the cold), Muppet 3d, pictures with Buzz and Woody, HISTA backyard scene, then over to star tours. Now these simulator rides I cannot handle, so I stayed off and told my family I would go and get seats for Indiana jones, to meet me there when they got off. DD#2 wasn't feeling up to par and decided to go with me. Turns out that there is only standing room left so we sit and wait for the other 3. We wait, and wait, and freeze, and wait. Now I am starting to lose it. What could take so long when they had fastpasses. Finally we spot them. The just came out of Indiana Jones, seen the whole show and asked where we were. What I can't figure out is how they got in. DH told the CM that his wife was inside saving seats so she let him in. Then when he could not spot us another CM told him to take the kids and sit in these nice front row seats. Needless to say 2 of us did not see that show on this trip. Over now to Drew Carey. This was actually pretty neat. We are done with MGM now and we head to AK. Stop #1 is lunch, we are starving. The kids and DH stop to play in the dig site while I grab fastpasses for Dinosaur. With those in hand we go into the Mcdonalds place for lunch. When we ate there in April, the outside tables were to hot to touch. Now this trip we are still trying to warm up at one of the inside tables. Time for Dinoaur(maybe I am the only one but I preferred the name Countdown to Extiction), a hit as usual. DS has started a dinosaur collection, so we purchased #3 and headed out. Way to cold for Kali rapids, bummer. I grab fastpasses for ITTBAB(did I mention that I love fastpass), and we head to Tarzan rocks. Another hit compliments of Disney. Back to the 3d show of bugs. This one I could do over and over. Another drawback to this time of year is the 5pm closing time, so out we go. Finally we are having dinner at DH favorite, Chilis. Back at the hotel we took the boat ride to DD. A little chilly but very nice scenery along the way. Great view of the treehouses at the Institute. I bought myself some winnie the pooh dishes(but now I won't let anyone use them), a new Christmas ball for the tree, Dh got a dopey baseball jersey, DD#1 started her pin collection, so 3 new pins and the strap, DD#2 got herself another stuffed toy, and DS bought lego. We secretly stopped on the way out and got 3 more pins to give DD on her birthday in a few weeks. Get back to DL and DH's shirt is too small so he jumps in the car to exchange it. He comes back with his shirt, and the matching oven mitts and pot holder for my new collection. What a sweetheart. That concludes another great Disney day.
