Having never eaten at Brown Derby we thought it would be nice to try it. I booked it on our 90 day mark but am now second guessing it. We will have a 3 and 5 yr old with us, is this really not a place for kids?

In the old days it used to be less attractive for kids. But with the advent of fantasmic, the place is now full of kids. Don't even give it a second thought.

Yes it's kid friendly! :goodvibes We just ate there with our kids in February and it was very enjoyable. There were lots of tables with young kids too. The food was soooo good here, we'll be going back for sure. :thumbsup2

As a cranky old woman, who's kid is grown, I personally would prefer the Brown Derby without kids..... but hey it is Disney World:rolleyes1

Brown Derby decor & atmosphere can be a little intimidating for children. There is little to capture the eyes and attention of small ones. It's dark interior and dark furnishings are not typical Disney. But children fit in fine here. There are plenty of other children these days. It is a 2 TS on the disney dining plan, and that does more for limiting the smaller set, than the atmoshere. And a kids menu is a kids menu wherever you go.

The food is excellent!

However, I do believe children would have a more entertaining time at Prime Time, Mama Melrose, or Hollywood & Vine.

I think it will be fine to bring the kids. We ate there before and I saw a lot of families in the restaurant with kids.

Enjoy your meal :)

I've taken my niece and nephew there a couple of times, and there were always other children there. The restaurant has big comfy booths along the walls that are great for sitting with kids. I know that they enjoyed the food they had too.

Our 2 year old daughter did very well. The place and every place at disney is full of kids.. ITS DISNEYWORLD!

It is kid friendly, but probably wouldn't be a choice for kids. It's dark and doesn't seem "Disney like" at all. We actually thought it was a letdown from what we expected and cost a fortune. We won't go back, but not because of the kid factor. There are just too many other places that are more fun and the food was just ok.

Guys, thanks so much! I think we will keep the ressies. Personally, I would pass if it were just my wife and I with the kids but my mom made mention last trip that she would like to try it. We were worried when I found some pics of the restraunt online, the first thing out of both of us was "we can't take the kids there" :rotfl2: but I'll show my wife this thread and I hope she'll feel better.

Thanks again everybody!

We ate there in December and it was full of kids. Our DS was 9 but there were kids of all ages. He liked the food. I would not hesitate at all if its something you want to try. Just my opinion but it is WDW and kids should be welcome!

My two year old has eaten there twice and all was fine! We really enjoy this restaurant!

We took our kids to the Brown Derby and it was fine. I think at any restaurant no matter what the price, as long as kids are good nobody cares. If your kids are yelling, screaming and throwing food, well, then that would be a problem. You know your kids, my kids I have to say are usually very good in restaurants, we had a few tantrums when they were little, and I would just excuse myself from the table and take them outside or in the bathroom. I'm sure you'll be fine!

My kids love BD, I think it is because there are not bells & whistles. It tends to have a calming effect on them. And the servers have always been very nice to the kids. They also enjoy chef de france.

HBD is definitely okay for kids. I think what's a little strange is to be eating at a fine dining restaurant with linen tablecloths and a piano player in your typical tourist clothes. Tanks and shorts. It strikes me funny everytime.:rotfl2:

Don't worry about your kids. My DD9 has been going there since she was 3 or 4. :goodvibes
