I have an ADR for Brown Derby at 6:30pm and there is a Fantasmic show at 8pm that night (last week of September). Would that give me and DBF enough time to eat before the show? We're on the DDP so we'll probably order the 3 courses. I have also heard that there isn't a bad seat in the house for Fantasmic, so would it really be necessary to stand in line before the show just to rush in with everybody and then wait? it's also an EMH night at MGM. Having said that, I think I just answered my own question, but what do you guys think?

There may not be a truly "bad" seat, but I certainly prefer certain views over others. On certain nights the theatre even fills completely.

I would suggest you show up early for your ADR and be ready to order as soon as you are seated (you can check out menus ahead of time online or in front of the restaurant). Even then, if they can't seat you right away, you will probably miss the 8pm start of the show.

we did the same thing, reserved Brown Derby with the Fantasmic Package. We asked for a specific time and they wouldnt let us have that time cuz it wouldnt give us enough time to get to Fanatasmic. So they gave us an earlier time. In other words, it'll be enough time cuz if it wasnt, they wouldnt have let you book that as a package!
PS- You get 3 course regardless of the dining plan...we're not on the dining plan and for us to get the package we have to pay a pre-fixe price per person ($36.99 or something?) and that includes appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic drinks. This is only if you book with the package.

I would be surprised if you weren't rushed through the whole meal. I thought you had to be by the Fantasmic Dinner package entrance 30-45 minutes before the show, that would mean 7:15-7:30. I don't see how you could eat three courses that quickly. Maybe the last week in September is a lot less crowded then when we've been there. We always do the BD Fantasmic package and it is a leisurely dinner.

The last two posts assume that the OP has booked the Fantasmic! Dinner Package at HBD... I don't think she has. It states that she has ADR's for HBD and wants to go see Fantasmic! afterwards.

I think that 6:30 is definitely cutting it close. Your ADR doesn't guarantee that you will be seated by that time anyway and you can often wait a half hour for a table (esp at such a peak time for dinner). If so, that would leave you sitting at 7 at the latest (we'd hope) and the show starts at 8. I think it's almost impossible to make unless you are fine with seats way up in the back and/or risking not getting a seat. If the dinner goes even somewhat slow, you could miss the show.

Oh my gosh, you're totally right, why did I think I saw "package" in there? Sorry if I confused the original poster then! If you told the CM that you planned on making it to the show, then in that case, they wouldve suggested a good time for you. However, I dont know your situation, so I'll offer you this advice- Brown Derby doesnt exactly rush their meals. Give yourself plenty of time to eat (especially if you're doing 3 courses) and to get in line. I've had to wait 2 hours on line for Fantasmic once!

I would be extremely surprised if you even made it inside to see Fantasmic. The seats fill up as early as an hour before the show starts. Are you staying long enough to park-hop one evening to try and catch it a different night? If not, you should really consider changing your ADR if possible.

When we booked the Fantasmic package at HBD, our ADR was for 5pm. We didn't leave the restaurant til close to 7pm, which just gave us enough time to walk around a bit prior to entering the special gate . . .
