Okay so we have a lunch ressie at brown derby for our last day. I have looked over the menu several times and I am just not sure I will be happy with this. I am seriously considering changing to Boma. I love this place and really want to go back. So here is a little info on our plans at least for dining 12/7-16.

07- Whispering Canyon Cafe-1st time
08- Rose & Crown Pub- 1st time
09- Ohana- We ate there in july and DH wanted to go back
10-Liberty Tree Tavern- I ate there in aug and wanted to go back
11- 50' Cafe- We never miss this one (I LOVE their fried cheese)
12- Marrakesh- 1st time for me and DH 2nd time for my in laws and DD Jules
she loves this place for the Belly Dancing or as she calls them
the Bling Bling Dancers. By the way this is a CP dinner package.
13- 1900 Parkfare- Breakfast I like the Strawberry Soup
14-Hollywood & Vine- Play & Dine Breakfast we like JoJo & Goliath alot
15- LeCellier- Wonderful Cheddar Cheese Soup Awesome Shrimp Cocktail
16- Brown Derby???????????

Keep in mind I am aware that this requires 2TS credits. Yes I am on the dining plan. Also if I decide to do Boma can I do a ressie for desert @ BD or can I order it to go. I would rather order it to go on the 11th that is a lunch ressie.

We've never eaten at Brown Derby but the menu has tempted us -- though the prices have kept us away. If you are unsure about the menu, go to Boma. At least there you'll have more variety and perhaps it'll keep your wallet a little lighter. Boma is fantastic for both breakfast and dinner!

I love them both. They're so different, though, I would have difficulty choosing one over the other. I'd say you get more bang for your buck at Boma, but I've always had the better food and service at BD. Love all the entrees there, and the desserts! Then of course, there's the atmosphere at each one...I love to go to Boma just because I love to go to the AKL, and it gives me the excuse to do so. I love the marketplace atmosphere of Boma as well (when I'm in the mood for it!). I don't feel as warm-n-fuzzy about HBD's atmosphere. Although pleasant enough, and I like the pics on the walls and the warm polished wood accents throughout, I still feel like I'm in a park restaurant (not nearly as relaxing as a resort restaurant, IMO).
So there, I'm sure my indecisiveness helped, no?

Yeah, that's like comparing grapes to wine - sure, wine tastes better, but you can consume more grapes in the long run.

Lunch, I'd go with BOMA - any other time and I'd go Brown Derby.

Boma is not open for lunch. Breakfast and dinner only.

Edited to add that they had Boma open for lunch during the free dining period. But that was it.

We ate dinner at the BD for the first time in September and we loved it. Absolutely wonderful. However, there are so many different opinions here on every restaurant. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either! :teeth:

I personally think Brown Derby is one of the best restaurants on property, but can understand why certain people may not like the dishes offered.

Maybe the person is thinking of Whispering Canyon since it is opened for lunch.

I am assuming you are looking at HBD for lunch or Boma for a late breakfast. If that is the case - HBD ALL THE WAY!! I have eaten at both (HBD dinner, Boma breakfast) and the quality of food at HBD is far superior in my opinion. I'm sure it has something to do with what they can keep fresh/hot etc. on a buffet. Boma breakfast was ok. Hotel is beautiful! HBD dinner was the best we had the whole trip!

Hi all thanks so much for reading. I have booked a ressie for 5:10 @ Boma. I think though that we will keep our ressie at BD for noon and do desserts. Thank you everyone and if anyone else has more please feel free to post.

i personally did not like the brown derby, make sure not to eat the brown derby cobb salad! YUCKY!!!!!! The Salmon was good though...however, I never want to go back.

We ate at both during our trip last month....by far, we preferred Brown Derby!
