He was running stairs and ended up doing something to his toe inside his tennis shoes. The thing is HUGE and black and blue all over. Next Thursday is supposed to be his first day in Bootcamp at Ft. Benning, Georgia! He can't get ahold of mom and dad. I know they're going to send him for X-Rays, but I don't know if there's anything they can do except tell him to ice it, elevate it, and take aspirin.

Big problem: He's terribly flat footed, so he relies on the the balls of his feet (especially by the big toe) a lot more than we do.

What they heck do we do? Push his bootcamp back? I'd hate to see this happen as it's taken forever for him to finally get a date; but, going into bootcamp with that means he could medically fail when he can't do the running and physical drills. It's Airborne Infantry, so it's 4 months and more physical from what I've been told.

AHHHHHHHHH!

Can he call his doctor?
Go to the emergency room?
Call his recruiter after he has an exact diagonsis.
When will he be able to reach his parents?
I had a friend that hurt her leg before bootcamp for OTC...she went and they sent her back, they gave her a year to recover and go again.

I hope it is just jammed...and if he rests I might be a lot better in 6 days. :grouphug:

If he's joining the army at this point, he needs his head examined more than his toe!

nice

Good luck! I hope he feels better soon!

Calling his recruiter is really his best choice after he gets a diagnosis. I wouldnt do it until he goes to the doc though.
