:( I'm so upset. My brand new pewter Captain Mickey key chain is broken. I dropped my keys yesterday and today I saw that the Captain is missing an arm. It's such a bummer. It's the only DCL-related think I bought for myself on the cruse. Ebay doesn't have any up for auction.

Not a real biggie, but I knew my Dis/DCL obsessed friends would understand. DH just thinks I'm crazy.

Queen Trident,

I'm so sorry for your loss, We're going in April on the Western Easter Cruise. If nobody offers on a cruise before this, I'd be happy to pick you up a replacement.

I know how important Disney items can be and mean to each of us.

Best of Luck

KennyK

Ditto here - just let us know if you get one before we cruise on 4/17.

I got my key chain when you got yours and lucky for me mine is ok, but this is my replacement key chain from 2003 and that lasted a year. It broke 1 week prior to our cruise in January.

Jenn: Do you have the arm? How about some super glue or epoxi? If it is not strong enough to continue as a key chain, you could glue magnets to the back or use the kind that come with a sticky side and put it on the refrig. I bought mine for that purpose as they had no DCL magnets. I cut the loop off and glued magnets on.

Jenn,

I was going to offer but KennyK got there before me. If no one offers before we go, just let us know and one of us will gladly pick one up for you.

Aw, thanks guys for all the offers. You are the greatest. ::yes:: I knew you'd understand!

I didn't realize it was broken until this afternoon and I dropped the keys in my work parking garage yesterday morning. I quickly looked before leaving today, but couldn't find it. Poor Mickey. I'll have to fashion him an arm for the time being.

The keychain is make of pewter? That's not a very hard metal, you can bend it and break if you apply pressure to it, especially a thin or small piece if it, so I'm not surprised that it broke when you dropped your keys. I'm not sailing until August, and if for some reason you still need a replacement by then, I'd be happy to pick one up for you. But maybe just use it as a decorative item, sitting on your desk or something. I'd be afraid it could break again. I know how hard *I* am on my keychains, it'd never last. LOL

Jenn, we're going on the March 4th cruise. If you'd like, you can Paypal me when I get back (I'll buy one for you onboard.)

Just let me know. I'd be happy to if you'd just let me know where you bought it.

Sherri :)

What sweet offers from all of you to help replace the Mickey. Aren't DIS friends great??
Sherri--what precious pictures!! How old are the twins?

By the way. My pewter Captain Mickey just broke yesterday. Looks like I am in the same boat you are. Lucky for me I had gotten 1 other key chain while on our last crusie, but I loved this key chain (boohoo) the best.

Oh no Miny! Sorry for starting the trend.

I dropped my keys at least 3 times today - carrying groceries and a screaming 3 year old should be an Olympic event!

Anyway, I think I'm not going to bother replacing it right now. As SeaSpray said, pewter's soft and obviously, I'm really hard on my keys. :D

Thanks for all the offers, but I'll just have to make do with my one-armed Mickey until I find another key chain that catches my eye.

Minybear & Queentrident,

That's a shame that those key chains are breaking. If I remember right on the back or bottom of your receipts is a statement that says if the item is defective it can be returned and replaced and they give you a place to contact.

On one of my trips to wdw I purchased a Mickey carry-on roll-a-round suitcase. Packed some clothes in it for the trip home and it went on the airplane. When I picked it up from the carousel it had a broken foot.

I sent Disney a letter to the address on the bottom of the receipt and a copy of the receipt. They sent me a new suit case in the mail and asked that the old one be returned.

So you might be able to get your key chains replaced with very little hassel.

If you decide that you want to have us buy a replacement while on the ship, just let us know. WE'd be more than happy to help out a fellow dis'er.

Well, my Mickey is terminal now. I dropped him again (I know, I know - it's getting ridiculous) and he separated from the key ring. So now I have a lonely, one-armed Mickey in a perpetual salute. It's quite a sad state of affairs.

I'll look for my receipt and contact DCL. Thanks for the tip!

Hey Jenn,

Sorry to hear about Mickey.:( But I wanted to let you know the girls got the post card and they thought it was great. Especially the younger one. She was so excited that Cinderella sent her a post card about her upcoming cruise. Thanks again and maybe when I am on the ship in April I will just pick up a new key chain for you, but we will have to wrap Mickey in bubble wrap this time so he doesn't get broken. :teeth: ::MickeyMo

I glued a magnet on the back and have it on the metal around the microwave in my motorhome.
