OP - Sorry to hear about your husbands injury and I hope he recovers quickly. I hope you can get everything rescheduled for another trip with a minimum of hassles. The minute I read your first post I knew in my heart to tell you no - don't attempt it but I kept reading to see what others had to say. I am sure the kids will be disappointed , heck, so will you and your husband but his health is far too important at this point. As a nurse I would have to say that the plan for a spring trip is the most realistic for your family, although a December trip would be great I assure you that it would be the most exhausting, frustrating trip of your life ..........this comes from experience of traveling with casts/wheelchairs/scooters etc. By December your husband should be able to do a lot more by that point (hopefully) but his injury is not a fast healing type situation, its not like having a simple cast put on and POOF, in 4-6 weeks you are back to normal! Luckily, it sounds like he is active and healthy which is a great for his recovery and rehabilitation but a trip in December would still put the brunt of the work off on you , esp if the kids are young. I am sure you are devastated about the news from the MD right now, and rightfully so, I am just glad he was NOT wishy washy about saying yes or no, or leave it up to you and your husband to decide. I truly respect him for that, I work with TOO many MD's that won't voice their opinion and they think a lay person should be able to decide something for themselves!
