Sorry to bump up an old thread...but I just saw this movie last night. And, I'm...well...haunted by it. It was SUCH an amazing movie...I just can't get it out of my head right now. Yes, I cried at the end with the 2 shirts.
Was talking to my brother about it this morning...he's read the book...and I dunno if this was posted...but I found this interesting:
Turns out, in the book - the father in law was so pissed off that the
son-in-law barked at him on thanksgiving day (the whole t.v. incident..)
that he wanted to get revenge...
And the wife suspected something was up..
So the father in law set the husband up.
Remember after the dance thing - when the husband (of the wife who
talked A LOT) said "there's a cabin down south on the lake, we should go
fishing sometime. Nice lake"
Well, that was all a set up so the father could find out if he was truly
gay or not.
And the wife knew about it the whole time.
So, it was pretty disturbuing.
That would have been kinda 'key' to keep in the movie...but regardless...this movie enthralled me. The story between the two of them...just heart wrenchingly beautiful IMO.
So glad I got to see it.
