I served this at my sister's bridal shower the other day. It turned out really well, and everyone wanted the recipe. I left out the bacon and used red grapes rather than raisins. The grapes have better color, and they're easier to pick out if some of the guests don't like them.

Broccoli Salad
Adapted from Allrecipes.com
10 slices bacon, optional
1 head broccoli, cut into bite sized pieces
¼ cup red onion, chopped
½ cup raisins or red grapes, halved
3 TBSP white wine vinegar
2 TBSP white sugar
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup sunflower seeds
1. Cook bacon. Crumble and set aside.
2. In medium bowl, combine broccoli, onion, and raisins or grapes.
3. In small bowl, whisk together vinegar, sugar, and mayonnaise. Pour over broccoli mixture and toss until mixed. Chill at least 2 hours.
4. Before serving, toss with bacon and sunflower seeds.

Sounds like a nice broccoli salad. Your variations sound good too.

Don't you just love the allrecipes site? They have some great stuff.
