Does anyone know anyway to get discounts at this place? DH & I saw it on the Travel Channel the other day and would LOVE to try it out next year. On Expedia the cheapest room is $325.00 a night!

Anyone have any personal experience with it?

No idea how to get discounts...but it IS beautiful......we saw it - but didn't go in -- a couple of years ago when visiting family in Denver. We did a day trip down to CS becasue I'm a big figure skating fan, the USFSA Hall of Fame and Museum is right nearby the Broadmoor. It is one of the "grand old hotels" of the US for sure!

i dont have any info for you. BUT my friend from high school works there!!!!

Any friend of yours is a friend of mine!!!:p

Seriously - would your friend know if they have any sort of "off" season or discounts available? AAA? Some sort of travel club? I didn't see them on the Entertainment Book site. I'm guessing they do pretty good without discounts! But a girl can try!

disneydebbie~ i emailed my friend that works at the hotel. she works in their accounting dept. and only works mon-fri. the only email she has is through work so she wont get the email until monday. but as soon as i hear back from her i will let you know!

I'm not a DVC member :(

Thanks so much Angela! I told my DH that I'd posted a question about this on the DIS boards and that if there was something out there someone would know - or be able to find out!! :D

did you check their website for specials?

herc.

Duh! NO! Call me a moron!:o I'm so used to looking other places I didn't even think of it. I'll do that today!

Thanks!!:jester:

my friend emailed me back. sorry but she said that the only way to get a discount is to work for a reciprocating hotel. she said to check the website for any specials that might be going on. but that they usually only happen in the winter which is their slow season.

My DH and I stayed there for a weekend in 1996. I had to go to a banking convention and he hung out while I was at meetings. The room we had was about $300 or so per night and EXTREMELY small. I was disappointed about that, but it really is a grand hotel. The weekend we were there, the 49ers were having their super bowl ring ceremony and Boys II Men were performing for them. Boys II Men was easy to pick out since all the teenage girls were swarmed around them, but all of the football players were just big guys with big necks. Without their helmets and numbers, they are hard to identify. We kept a lookout for Steve Young, but never saw him. Their Sunday brunch was wonderful.

We loved Colorado Springs. Make sure you take the cog railroad to the top of Pike's Peak and definitely stop at the AF Academy. When we went there, we stopped in the bookstore and picked up a cadet. We asked him if he was busy and if he could give us a driving tour of the post, stopping at the Cadet Chapel. He was very nice and obliged us. The amazing thing at the chapel is that the first floor is very opulent with stained glass windows, pipe organ, etc. This chapel is for Protestants. When you go downstairs, there is Catholic Chapel that is about 2/3's of the building, with a low, basement ceiling and an electric organ. When you walk behind the altar, you enter a "room for Jews" with a piano. I think it speaks volumes about the religious demographic in this country.

Thanks for letting me reminisce. If you go, you won't be disappointed with the Broadmoor. The pond alone, between the front and back buildings is beautiful by itself, then drop Pike's Peak in the background and WOW!

The website does have specials. Give it a try. I was looking at it for a stay this winter and I know the website rates were better then the rates you quoted.

Disney Debbie--

I was also going to suggest the website, or you can try calling the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau, they may have some deals, or know where some can be found. Their phone # is 719-635-7506, or their web address is www.coloradosprings-travel.com.

The Broadmoor is an absolutely gorgeous place as is Colorado Springs and there is a LOT to do in the area.

If you want/need any other info about my beautiful city, I'd be happy to fill you in, just let me know, or pm me if you'd like!
