Twice baked potatoes (some call them double baked potatoes) are so yummy! I don’t make them often, because they are time consuming, easy to make, just time consuming. Yesterday I had the time to make them, so I made them to have with some grilled pork chops, and they were so good! If you’ve never heard of twice baked potatos, here ya go……

So, now that you’ve read that, let’s get to the poll.

Have you had twice baked potatoes?
If yes….what is your opinion of them?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I like them, don’t love them - I’ll save the love for a regular baked potato. A twice baked potato is a nice change once in awhile. I rarely order a twice baked potato in a restaurant because they can be kinda boring. I like my own at home, because I keep adding ingredients until I get the taste exactly as I want it.

I usually make twice baked potatoes for a special family meal, like for Christmas Eve. They are a fan favorite, and everyone loves them. :)

I like them well enough, don't love. It's been a long time since I've had one. I did have a great baked potato on Sunday though.

I do like these.

Sometimes we only have these for dinner.

I often make a homemade Obatzda (German beer cheese made with Camembert) and Pretzels.

I usually have some left over so I use it to make the potatoes.

I usually microwave the potatoes - its much quicker - and then finish in the air fryer.

I have had them, made them and eaten them.....they are okay.
I don't eat regular potatoes anymore.

I rarely eat potatoes anymore so missed the boat with American style double baked. However, years ago did eat the French version, pommes Duchesse.
They were nice.

They're okay. I can't say I've ever made them, but I've bought them at the grocery store to go with a dinner, but it's got to be 15-20 years since then. I also don't go out of my way to get one when it's a restaurant option. Always seem to be dried out to me.

ETA: Pioneer Woman's Crash Hot Potatoes are my family's favorite -- I make them at least once or twice a month.

I love potatoes in all forms! I like twice-baked, but I can be just as happy with a regular baked potato with all the trimmings.

I worked in a nice seafood restaurant back when I was in grad school and they had twice baked potatoes as an upgraded side option. They always looked so delicious but for the longest time, I never dared because of my nutritional goals. I finally splurged and it was just OK. It definitely looked better than it tasted. Truth be told, living in Texas, baked potatoes routinely are served here with all of the toppings as the norm. Granted, it's not as pretty as the piped in potato, but I've found that a standard baked potato loaded up with all of the fixings (cheese, butter, sour cream, bacon, chives, jalapenos optional) usually is more tasty since they come with a higher quantity of flavorful fillings.

Side note: DH was shocked and horrified when he found out that restaurant baked potatoes in other parts of the country often only come with butter and maybe some sour cream.

:thumbsup2The bolded is true of so many things, isn’t it? Restaurant versions of many things I make well are often disappointing. We call them stuffed potatoes and we do eat them, both at home and out - I wouldn’t say they’re craveable though.

They are just OK in my view. Sometimes the re-baked center part gets mushy when too much liquid (milk/cheese/butter/etc) gets added. I don't care for the ones when the center is more like mashed potatoes.

Not my fav. Prefer a regular baked potato. I like wrapping them in foil and doing them on my Traeger.

I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever had a twice baked potato or not. I make potato skins that are “stuffed” with cheese, bacon and topped with sour cream & green onions. But I don’t know if I’ve ever had it mixed with the potato flesh and rebaked.

My mom made these back in the 1960s; she called them stuffed potatoes. She'd cut an oval opening in the top of the potato, scoop out the filling, mix it with sour cream, butter, and milk, then stuff it back into the potato and reheat. They were very good, and a nice change from baked or mashed all the time (she wasn't a rice fan, and noodles were only with red sauce or in a casserole, so we ate a LOT of potatoes).

I've had twice baked potatoes and I like them if they're being handed out, but I'd never go out of my way to buy them or make them when there are so many other better things to eat out there! Maybe I've just never found the right kind of twice baked potato to tempt me.
