Broadband

Next Tuesday I will at last have broadband! i'm really quite clueless about it though, apart from knowing that it will make surfing quicker! So......do I just leave the computer connected to the internet all the time or do I disconnect when I want to? won't it disconnect when I turn the pc off anyway? I should probably know all this but I can honestly say this is not my thing!

It really doesn't matter ... many pcs are left on 24/7 these days.... the only consideration is that, if you add up all the admittedly, individually small power usages acrossthe planet, a heck of a lot of electricity is wasted every day! I turn mine off completely when I've done my session!

l disconnect my internet and usually just let my PC hibernate by itself. It's set to power down after about 30 minutes.

You can stay connected 24/7 if u like (as long as computer is on of course). The only thing I would recommend if you do is to make sure you have a good firewall installed. By the way Broadband is great !!.

You'll love it Angie. Ditto the firewall. Mine get's pinged from time to time.

The charity I work for agreed that I could have broadband and I went 'active' last week. It's great, so much faster. I connect when I put the laptop on in the morning and then disconnect when I put it to sleep at night and it is on all day between times.
