Britney Spears - Phony!!!!

An even bigger secret is that even the ones who are singing live are having the sound mixed before it hits the speakers. Kind of smooths out the rough edges :rotfl:

I'ev seen Chris Isaak live many times -- incredible show! The country artists I've seen sing live (not big on the dancing, except for Garth Brooks running around like a crazy person). Elton John definitely sang, also not so much dancing!

Way way back in the day when she was brand new I saw Whitney Houston in concert (her first album) and she was horrible. Really, really tremendously bad. The concert would have been better if she was lip synching!

I had several friends attend concert last night.

All of them were very disappointed.. she hardly danced, just that silly little prance she does most of the time.

The circus was way over played. They all said she DID sing one song live .. a slow one and that she sounded nice.

Most left early.

The Pussycat Dolls on the other hand were a HUGE hit.. Sang their butts off and danced like crazy.

Sorry no live songs at all on her tour.

For a REAL musician, I would assume they could do a live show. If I went to see Elton John and Billy Joel again I would want them to sing it all!!

We're going to see them tomorrow night!!!!

My son gave his girlfriend tickets for thursday's show in Atlanta. I will let you know if she sings it live or lipsyncs when I get the review of the show.

Went and saw Los Lonely Boys a few months ago and there is no question that they were live.

Before that..........dang, I can't remember who I saw before that, it's been so long. :rotfl2:

Even bands that perform mostly live will have some effects going on in the background. The Rolling Stones, for instance, will have some extra musicians playing backstage doing some fillins. Bruse Springsteen sang live at the Super Bowl halftime show but Jennifer Hudson didn't. Some performers at Barack Obama's inauguration were prerecorded and just going through the motions onstage. It's a business and they don't like mistakes when people are paying big money to see them.

That's obviously not real...

hehe - it is definitely debatable....but it has convinced a lot of folks...sound engineer's included....I can't authenticate it obviously, but to me it sounds plausible! We need Mythbusters on this one!

Not very compelling evidence....those clips are all very relaxed performances with next to no dancing involved. Easier to sing when your not flying around at 170 beats per minute heart rate.

What does that have to do with the quality of her voice?

Just because its harder for her to maintain that voice when she is dancing doesn't mean that she can't sing well :confused3

Just saying that it is a plausible recording....her heart is racing, short of breath, knows that the mic is not live, relying on a backup track, maybe she is not concentrating on her voice? :dancer:

Again, I am not arguing for it's authenticity as that is not guaranteed...just stating that I believe it could be her. Also, I am not saying she can't sing well....where did I say that?

I would buy her cd.. but I would'nt waste my money to see her concert.

She can't sing! Her voice is just digitalized, that could be done for anyone. As soon as 'Womanizer' comes on the radio, I can't turn it off fast enough!

I totally agree with that. She cannot sing. I would never go see her.

There is difference between lip syncing and using a backing track.

Kanye West was on SNL a few weeks ago, he was singing but at a few points you could hear the backing track.

At large venues some assume there is lip syncing going on because of the sound delay.

Britney does perform, her entire act is a performance(and I am not a fan). I have not seen her show, so I cant say if she is using a backing track or lip syncing.

Yes, I saw Van Halen in december of 07. We were seated on the side of the stage, and for some songs we could see that they had a guy playing keyboards. But he was playing LIVE.

Personally, if I went to see Britney, I would go to see her perform, not just sing. She is an amazing dancer, has been since she was on the Mickey Mouse Club in 1993.

If she choses to lip sync, it won't change the fact that I'm a fan of hers. I've been a fan for years and I'll still be a fan for years to come. :)

I agree!

Who have you been going to see? Only artist I've ever seen who didn't sing was Madonna.

Interesting. If Madonna wasn't singing at her San Diego show, she sure did spend some time making a really imperfect track to lip sync to, and when she forgot the words to two songs the person with his/her finger on the button to stop the vocal was really really fast!

I could hear her breathing and such, and her voice fluctuated, etc, so I think at least at the show I saw she was singing.

I was going to answer about Britney that her performance isn't just singing, but the whole show, the spectacle...but gosh if she isn't even dancing, then that's no fun.

I don't disagree. Many perform live, and many lip-sync. I go to concerts to be entertained. If her performance entertains the audience, she will do well. If not, back to the drawing board.

BTW, it looks like she really hit the gym. She looks hot again. That will not hurt her ticket sales... ;)

We go to alot of concerts, now granted, they are hard rock/heavy metal however, these guys do not lip-sync!

Motley Crue...Papa Roach (incredible), Sammy Hagar....all are incredible!
