Bristol, Tn?????

Hi Everyone,
I have a bit of a dilema.....and I'm hoping that some nice DISer can help me out.
My dad has race tickets for the NASCAR race at Bristol, on August 28....and a hotel reservation for three nights in Kingsport.....


here is the problem...they have 3 more friends travelling and need another room..... and of course, all hotels within a 100 mile radius of Bristol TN are long sold out.

So, I'm asking the DIS, if anyone knows of a hotel/motel in the "general" area that I could try for reservations...please let me know. Maybe something small that isn't showing up on expedia.

Good luck. Have you thought about camping? I know there are camp grounds near the track.

Just a little warning. Some of the campgrounds get a little wild at times. If you are traveling with kids you may want to get an opinion on where you are camping before you go.

My DH, his dad and brother are all going to that race!! I have never personally been to Bristol, but we live in Knoxville, so the drive won't be too bad for them.

Have you tried checking around Johnson City? I can talk to DH, he used to travel around there for work, and he may know if some places you can check out.

No hotels to give, but some smaller communities to try:

Elizabethton, Jonesborough, Gray, Church Hill, Greeneville, Newport, Morristown (all in TN). Abingdon in VA. Maybe you could google bed and breakfasts in these communities?

I've known people who have been forced to stay in Wytheville, VA and in Pigeon Forge because of booking too close to a race. Good luck.
