Bristol Palin on The View~

OP here.....

The reason for this thread was that my opinion was & has been that Bristol danced like a tangerine with 2 sticks for legs. She was just horrible.

Sterilizing people, poor, unwed mothers, "haters" etc. will get this thread closed.

I'm glad Jennifer won...she was the most talented.

As far as her having to win because her father is Joel Gray I couldn't disagree more.
I was a very accomplished dancer into my early 20's and at this very moment my niece on is the Billy Elliot stage. Neither mother could dance or excelled in any of the arts.

For someone brand new to dancing she didn't dance horribly.

Jennifer should have done well considering she had a background (albeit limited) in dancing.

Good for Bristol for continuing to improve every week. She should be proud of herself.

It's for no other reason than that green eyed monster, jealousy. They're jealous of her, and of her mom, as well as threatened. The more they speak, the more their insecurities about themselves, and their jealousy is revealed.
The "You're just jealous of me and my friends!" argument is about as Middle School as Bristol's recent FB and DWTS faux pas :lmao:.

I can agree with all three of your points :thumbsup2.

I wouldn't say Bristol was horrible as she did improve..even the judges said that. I do agree though that based on dancing she really shouldn't have gotten as far as she did. I think Audrina and Brandy should have both lasted longer than Bristol.

I am glad Jennifer won only because she was Derek's partner. He is awesome! She was a good dancer but kind of annoying as a person...very whiney and spoiled was the impression I got. Even Patrick Swayze said something similar in his memoir. Her emotional act over their dances was fake to me considering based on his book they didn't have some close connection or anything...she put it all on for DWTS. But hey as much as I don't care for the person I saw I can say she deserved to win based on her dances.

I was actually pulling for Kyle...he was just adorable!!! :goodvibes

The one thing that I found with Bristol was that she did the same three or four movements over and over again. - shaking the shoulders - how many times did she do that to different kinds of music. I found that yes, she did improve what little she did. The dances all seemed to be similiar - just different music. There was no a lot of variety. I think the reason why some people were so upset was that some dancers - Brandy, Audrina and even Rick - should have stayed longer but were bumped instead.

Besides the finger bit, I noticed that she really was believeing that people were voting for her because "she improved so much"...............Too much!

ABC probably got her for the show for the publicity but I wonder if they later regretted it. There are a lot of people who have decided not to continue watching DWTS. I'm not sure if I will - depends on who the "celebrities" will be?

I don't hate Bristol or her mother. Just didn't think Bristol should have made it past week 4.

Maybe all you who think Bristol is such a nice kid missed her saying that winning would be like giving a big middle finger to all those people who hate her and hate her mother. I thought that was really classy! :thumbsup2

I completely agree with this post. I'm not too much of a fan of her mother (and I always think about Tina Fey and SNL when I see her on TV) but I gave Bristol the benefit of the doubt.

She did improve as the weeks went on. Her facial expressions got better and she let go a little. However, as far as her dancing was concerned, she was always just a little under the bar. She would know the moves, but wouldn't put any feeling behind them. Watching Lacy and Kyle, you could tell he was putting as much effort into the dance that he could - I didn't feel that way about Bristol. It was like she was just doing the least amount of work and the least amount of effort to get by each week.

The one week (I can't remember for the life of me which one it was) she did a nice job and I thought that she was really improving, however the next week it did not continue. I have taken dance classes for over 28 years now - I have seen excellent dancers and I have seen dancers who could really care less about performing. I would put Bristol in the catagory closer to the not caring about performing.

The comment she made about giving people the finger was completely uncalled for and I'm very surprised that ABC allowed that to be aired. Regardless of my feelings about her or her mother, she did lose a bit of my respect.

I applaud Bristol for making herself a celebrity, after what she went through during the campaign. I imagine she would have been much happier living her life in peace, being pregnant without having to deal with the press, and how people reacted and treated her and her family because of it, only she didn't get the choice. I say good for her.
Having said that, I don't condone her behavior, but I can understand why she feels its something she has to do.She has enemies for no reason except the fact that people don't like her mother, and thats a fact. She is probably destined for a life of having to defend herself against them, I hope se learns to do it in a more tactful manner, but I don't blame her at all for feeling the way she does.

There's a right and wrong way to deal with that, though. Look at Chelsea Clinton - she didn't do anything to deserve the negative attention and comments she got because of her parents, but she never did anything to court/encourage the media's focus on her either. Bristol Palin wants to have her cake and eat it too - she seems to want the benefits of that quasi-celebrity status but resents/complains about the negative attention that comes with it.

Is this her career path? Faux celebrity strictly because she's Sarah's daughter and had a baby out of wedlock?

Doesn't that send the wrong message about teen pregnancy to teens even though she's a spokesperson about that?

I don't get her celebrity status.

Haven't read all the posts....but,relax, last night she said no she isn't planning to make this her career

I stopped watching this season early on. Actually, stopped watching several seasons ago,but the cast list intrigued me.

What I do not like about this show is the casting of stars who will certainly do poorly, especially the elderly and especially when the judges are going to judge them as they would judge someone with less stiff joints and a younger mine that can handle the learning and remembering of complex choreography. I hated how they scored Buzz Aldrin last season. If they are going to judge him and an Olympian the same--ummm...well...by default, Buzz is going to have a problem.

Another thing I don't like about this show is the advancing of folks who are not able to keep up at the expense of those who can. It is a popularity contest. They may say, vote for who you want to see dance--but when the host and the judges get stunned, it is easy to see that the show doesn't really mean for you to vote for someone just b/c of who they are.

It is pretty easy to predict who will have the staying power the full duration to make it to the finals. What gets tricky is to predict the pecking order in which the other contestants will be cut from the show. That is why a Kate Gosselin sticks around or a "tangerine on two sticks". The viewing audience turns it into a popularity contest that has nothing to do with dancing.

That is fine if the show opts to keep it that way. But that is why I no longer watch.

I do wish they would balance the cast more--so that you have folks who all have a real shot at winning just on the merit of learning how to dance. But they don't cast that way on purpose.

I can't believe all the hate directed towards a teenage girl over a dumb reality tv show. Don't you have anything better to do with your time than watch reality tv. I have never watched the show and never will. They always say politics are not allowed on these boards. It is always evident that people that go to disney lean to the left. It always amazes me the hate that people have for people that oppose them politically. For gods sake its a stupid tv show.

I can't say that I hate her or like her, but ... I thought it was her sister, Willow, who posted the rant on Facebook, not her. :confused3 Unless there is more than one Palin-child rant on FB.

Why in the world would you hate or like someone that you don't personally know. Do you see a problem with this? I can't understand why anyone would hate someone they don't know. There seems to be a lot of perfect judgemental people on the dis boards:confused3

:lmao: I certainly am not jealous of a foul-mouthed, ill behaved teen. I would dislike any young person who has that kind of mouth and that kind of attitude on a national show. Nothing to do with jealousy over her or her mother.

AND I have absolutely nothing to feel threatened about by her mother. :rotfl2:

Actually, when the family opens their collective mouths, I tend to feel MORE secure about myself and my family unit.

Although, I do have to give them credit. I thoroughly enjoy all the skits they inspire on shows like SNL.

Thanks for the laugh! :goodvibes

Wow nice talk from someone insulting someone elses daughter. How old are your 12? Who is foul mouthed and ill behaved again. If your going to criticize someone you should at least do it a mature way.

This:thumbsup2

I can't tell you the number of threads I read on the DIS dealing with teen pregnancy. Heaven help us if the subjects of the threads were inner city girls.:sad2: Many of the DISers who praise Bristol, blasted the others. They blamed the parents, the community, the girls...

I don't recall any of them having anything good to say about those girls.

I have nothing against unwed mothers, I was one myself. However, my views on teen pregnancy remains the same no matter who the person is.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Huh ? I wonder how many women on the dis boards were virgins through high school? Like I said before those without sin cast the first stone.

Didn't you know....no one on the Dis ever had sex before marriage OR used a swear word. We're as pure as the driven snow here.

Not only do people not have sex before marriage on the disboard, but they are also debt free, and the perfect parents. Did you know their kids never act up at restaurants or run down the halls at resorts. People on the dis also never make a mistake at work, therefore even the slightest mistake by a cm at disney should immediately be reported to management so that cm is hung from the rafters. Yes these are all the things I have learned from hanging out on the dis boards. Yes I agree all dis'ers are white as the driven snow.
