Bristol Palin and Levi are getting married?

I just saw this on the news and them on the cover of US Weekly, and all I care to add is that baby, Tripp is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. :goodvibes

I don't agree with Sarah Palin's political views, but I think it's sad the way this engagement has become yet another excuse to mock, insult, and ridicule her.
I wish Bristol and Levi the very best of luck. It won't be easy.

:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Nope, you are so wrong.

The boards have been full of people saying that Mel Gibson is a moron. Or John or Kate, or Michael Jackson or John Edwards or Al Gore. Are you offended by that too? Should those people also say, "although I don't agree with Mel, Kate, John, Michael,John or Al personally...." Or is it ok when the person's celebrity is connected to anything but politics?

You obviously are a huge fan of hers. I am not.

And I would suggest that you are venturing into the realm of personal attacks. Express your support for your famous person, but don't go attacking those that don't share the same view and asserting baseless accusations on their part. :hippie:

Personal attack? Really? Wow! I didn't see it that way. :confused3
Thought it was you two were just disagreeing. I thought personal attacks were insults or being sarcastic...and stuff like that.

To me, adding that last line makes the statement a whole lot harsher. I didn't think it was too bad before that last line was added.

You can interpret the statement as a snarky insinuation that at least one of the parents is currently not a loving parent, and she is praying that they mature into one.

It is all where you put the emphasis and interpretation when you read it.

Or she could have said that because not too long ago Levi wasn't in the baby's life according to Bristol herself.

I think it was kind of a personal insult when he said "we don't care what you think". Not quite a personal attack yet, but coming close. But hey, to each their own.

I was actually supporting her in my first comment. I think it was wrong, immature and chicken of Bristol and Levi to go to media first, especially knowing that her mother is a polarizing figure in the media.

They had to know that by going to the media first, and making sure everybody knew they hadn't told her parents first (the kids made sure that little tidbit was broadcast), that the sensational headlines, the inevitable SNL skits, the tabloid fodder and the late night jokes at the Palin's expense would all materialize.

Levi is pretty familiar with the media, so should be pretty savvy on how this would go.

The kids being media *****s isn't so bad. But that little dig that they just had to put out there, that they hadn't told the parents yet, rather nasty and immature of the kids I think. They went out of their way to publicly embarrass Palin. So, I will say it again, as much as I think she is an idiot, she did not deserve that kind of treatment from her daughter. She has always been publicly supportive of Bristol even though it went against her public values. I would think the kids would be publicly supportive and respectful of her too.

I would say the same thing about Kate if one of her girls, at 19 went to the media and said she was getting married to a guy who had made it a career of bashing Kate and then added the little tidbit that they were sharing the news with millions of strangers before they told mom because they were scared of mom. I would say the exact same thing "As much as I think Kate Gosselin is an idiot, she did not deserve to be treated this way."

Hopefully Palin is right and they will mature into adulthood soon.

And the baby is adorable.

No, it wasn't. It was plainly obvious that it was an opportunity to take a shot at a political figure. Otherwise, it could have read "Although I don't agree with her personally, She doesn't deserve..." or even just "She doesn't deserve...". We don't care what you think about her.

OK, that explains a lot. :lmao: So the whole "thing" is staged to set up fake baloney that Palin did not "know" they were going to get married.

I am slipping.

But my burning question is, will Levi wear pants to the wedding? And after all he has been up to(and reportedly with) is anything else burning?......

Wow. Those two just live to ruin SP's chances at running for office.

Not that I'm complaining. Won't be watching either.

Has a reality show been confirmed or are we really just taking the word of a gossip column who is taking the word of Gawker who is taking the word of an anti Palin blogger?

I also wish that Mrs. Palin will be kind enough to make sure a really good Pre-Nup is drafted which protects her daughter, her grandson, and their privacy in the event of a divorce. :)

Good point. Although if Bristol does sign on to a reality show, she'll have no privacy to protect.

What's next: Jon & Kate, Together Again? :happytv:

This is what I was going to say. He looks like a little cherub. What a beautiful little boy!

ITA, I think Sarah Palin is a first-class moron too, but no way does she deserve this from her daughter. I think she did the best she could (at least what we saw publicly) to support Bristol at a really not-so-advantageous time in her political life. It's sad that the kids put in that little dig about not telling her parents yet- really, did they need to announce that? Grrr. Not nice.

I'm hoping that it really is a case of true love, can't-live-without-each-other love, and that they are able to support and raise that little boy as a couple. Good luck to them, the odds are certainly against them.

I really don't get this Abstinence-only sex education business it is a fact that from the begginning of time teenagers have been having sex. In the past teenagers where married by the time they wher 12 and already becoming parents (Henry VII's mother was only 13 when she had her only child). Now even 19 year olds are considered children instead of what they are young adults, we now treat them like children who are not even considered with enough respect to have their own post without parents believing they have the right to open their ofsprings mail, and yet these young people are supposed to respect their parents respect is a two way path my sister has 3 16 year olds and has never opened their mail or read their text messages and they trust her to tell her everything. I do hope these young adults have a good marriage but Sarah Palin really needs to get over the idea that she has the right to get into other people's bedrooms and tell them what to do because from what I have seen these taught Abstinence-only tend not to use birth control and that is dangerous.

I guess you do not have a 19yodd? I do. Wait until your nieces are older before you go off on a tangent preaching how wonderful they are.;)

You really need to get off the mail thing. My dd could care less if we open her mail. You do realize some families are close and work together, right? We are not petty like that and don't understand people that actually give a crap about someone opening their mail. It boogles my mind that this is an issue for you. How is that for the flipside?

As far as teens and sex, people are free to preach what they want and they do, esp. parents. Now whether anyone listens is another matter.:lmao:

Not to beat a dead horse, but I agree about that whole mail thing. I would've been seriously peeved if my mom ever opened my mail. She may have had her issues, but my mom was never snoopy like that or so mistrustful of my judgment or ability to handle my own business. It boggle my mind that parents would do such a thing.

Now, back to the business at hand...no mention of a reality show today on the Today Show. Has anyone heard any more on that front?

Well in my family we don't care. You do understand that some families do not care about that stuff, right?
